DELETE apple music on your pc/laptop. It messes up itunes functionality badly!

For anyone looking here later, if all this doesn’t work, plug in your iphone and open itunes, then go to windows update and search for update, an update for apple device manager might( like a driver) show up install that and it probably will fix your problem

This might help others. iTunes support in Windows presently (Jan 2024) has been superseded by Apple Devices software in Windows 10 version 19045.0 or higher. It appears that iTunes is no longer supported for these versions of Windows. Spent a lot of hours trying to get iTunes to work, then found this out. Maybe it will save someone else a lot of trouble.

What about for mac users? Tried looking for updates and nothing shows up

None of this applies anymore since apple came out with their apple music app for PC - FYI

There is no such thing as Portable devices on my device manager window

just had to unplug and plug in again. thnx

Made it worse, and now it shows up as MTP Device, rather than Apple iPhone. This sucks.
