How to fix hydraulic issues with Wood-Mizer Sawmill - levers quit working

If one or more of the hydraulic levers have quit working on your sawmill, this video will help you sort it out. In my case, in ended up being a quick adjustment that anyone could do by themselves.

I just relocated and am going through my lt40. No doubt I'll open up the hydraulics compartment now and go through these steps. Thank you. GOD be with you and your family during all this uncertainty in our world that is becoming to much our daily way of life now.

Nice hat! I'll come back and watch this, the sun is setting and there's a lot of work to do outside before it gets dark. I have to prep for the giant monstrosity of technology I bought so I can make my own boards. God help me if it breaks, and God bless you and your family.

Thank you! 8 hours on a new LT40 and the two log clamp hydraulic controls flaked out. Same adjustment and I’m back in business 🙏

This always drove me nuts on the mills. Seemed like I always need to replace brushes and other things on my lt50 and 70. It was also fun trying to push a hose from one end of the frame when one busted. Great info! The best fix is just buy a super 70

Great video, I've had my pins get sticky and not let the switch open back up after using the hydraulics, especially in cold weather, leaving the pump running continuously. Using the pipette is a good idea to add atf.

Hello, I have an LT40 wide head that's a 2021 year model. . What could cause the hydraulics to make a gradual high pitch sound that sounds like it's getting more and more high pitch? It also doesn't have much power and is moving slow.

What type of battery do you use for your sawmill. I Have used several different batteries brand new with a 850 minimum amps. This will let my sawmill run maybe 10 minutes. I have a small thin type of battery charger that I just hook up to it and let it ride along with my sawmill I keep it hooked to the battery all the time because I cannot keep enough charge in it. What would you suggest on that issue.

The experts at Wood-Mizer say to put the biggest cranking battery that you can fit in the battery box. An 850CA is small to run all the hydraulics consistently on the machine. You also need to consider if the alternator is not charging the system fast enough, as you should be able to work for more than 10 minutes without it dying. Many people upgrade batteries or alternators on their sawmills. I always recommend Wood-Mizer owners set up a customer account and receive the free tech support when troubleshooting issues.

Quite honestly, if you call WoodMizer, they will help walk you through finding a fix. It could be a handful of things causing that issue.
