How to fix headlight moisture Ford Focus MK3 (2011)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The fix is very easy. The tools you need:
1. T30 torx screwdriver/screw bit
2. Hairdryer
3. Easily removable tape. I have used blue insulating tape as this is what I already had in my toolbox
4. Waterproof silicone. I will use NO NONSENSE clear silicone which in the UK you can get at Screwfix for under £4
5. Protective gloves and soapy water

Nice one bud , 🙌🏼 Same car ,same issue .. saved this for when time comes to fix mine .. the funnel to direct the air 👌🏻Nice touch
Tadas you’re a legend. I plan to try this myself asap. Been a long term issue with my headlights.
Happy days just did this after your video on wife's 2012 focus thank you fella 👍
Great help. By the bag you used..I'm a local!
Thanks mate, I'll do my focus today..cheers
Thanks for this, I'm upgrading my mondeo for a newer one (2007 to 2010) the new car has condensation in the light so I was a bit worried (I've just spent 600 euros getting the old one fixed due to rusted connections because of water in the lights) I'll do the new one myself and save some money 👏
Very nice video. Thanks for the explanation.
I’ve seen in the past people drilling a tiny hole at the bottom corner of the headlamp - nearest the centre of the car This allows water out when required and air flow to eliminate condensation

is that on the inside of light at the back and on the inside edge of the lamp towards the grill in the middle?

@@petepercussion looking at the car, the bottom corner nearest the grill. Small hole up through the lense, so no water can get in, only air
Thank you, i will give this a try.
Superb job
Looks fantastic!!!
I have just had to do the same thing. It seems a common issue on this model.
I have this issue with the xenon unit
Thank you!
Thanks. Same car same problem lol. Mine it’s the driver side tho. Thanks very helpful

Agreed!
Hi, great video! How long did this fix last and is normal no nonsense clear sealant ok or would it need to be heat resistant?
i hade the same issue i simple made two big holes at the bottom of the light and it as fixed ease not heating involved turned it on for 15m and 100% fixed
i had this problem on my vw passat cc , i used the old fish tank clear seal for tanks, gorilla tape and run bead all way round once fully dry, i did another layer to be sure adn now is all fixed and yet millions spent and i fixed it with 1 tube and tape and yet volkswagen couldn,t ppffttttttttt vw
Good video, I had a great deal more condensation in my headlight, so after emptying the water i pored 200ml of IPA (isopropanol alcohol ) into the unit and gave it a good shake emptied and repeated leaving just a bit of alcohol in the light fitting, a couple of minuets later using a hair dryer it was completely clean and dry, no water marks on reflector or lens, i then checked for bad sealing around the light unit but all was fine? so i checked the air vent to make sure it was not blocked and i found out that the removable rubber vent was faulty from the beginning as the hole in the bottom did not go through the rubber to a hole on the inside upper, this was the fault for mine, i cut a hole in the inner part at the top this allowed air to go through the rubber vent and i could now blow through it. (Note: the hole is at the bottom on the outside and should have had a hole on the inside at the top) .
Is it cause it has a cheap sealant from factory?
Silica gel bags do the trick too
I have exactly the same problem (same headlight side), but it's also accompanied with error on board- headlamp malfunction service required, and my right upper led (part of day light) don't work, until evening. Any advice? Thanks
I wanna buy you a beer
My car had water which we removed. Fitted new bulbs. Worked for a day and they don't work. How can I fix it
I did this to mine and didn’t work just take a rubber of the bulbs in the back of the unit fixed for good no rain gets in don’t even have have to take light out again must need more air
Thanks. Got a bunch of water in mine from spraying the engine bay. Got it dried out just removing the main H11 light bulb and putting in front of fan. Only issue is that where all the dozens of water droplets were on the inside, they dried and left a small residue behind, so all kinds of little residue spots left on the inside where the inside glass can't be reached. Sucks. May spray some filtered water inside, slosh around, and redry. Not sure.

Great job on the repair
Ford want £1300 for a single assembly 🙂,
That’s what you get when you buy a cheap Ford product. NO headlight on a brand new car should be leaking that early!

Bro this car is a 2011 and the video went up in 2020. Where did you get the idea this was a brand new car

Same on my e93 lci, and now my st does it somewhat
The ONLY proper seal method is to heat the housing assembly in an oven, separate the lense, remove old or existing sealant that failed, clean thoroughly with alcohol, apply NEW BUTYL RUBBER bead surround, reheat assembly, compress together, reinforce bond with tape while cooling, leave excess butyl alone, MOST IMPORTANTLY !!! DON'T FOLLOW THESE FOOLS USING DRILLS, SILICONE (omg🙄), SILICA GEL, AIR COMPRESSORS, VACCUMS, ETC. All ya need is an oven, 2 x 1ft pieces of wood blocking, $20 roll of oem butyl, book tape...backed by proper knowledge. It's out there...so go find it.
