Disconnect the battery and hard drive. Then hold the power button for 30 sec. Reconnect both and power up - check to see if the drive is recognized.

Hi there, Few weeks ago I suddenly got a Message "Hard Drive not installed" on my Dell Inspiron 17-7000(7778) (i5 processor) series and couldn't access Windows anymore, this was after a lot of years of ongoing screen freeze alongside other issues that I had on 2 same Inspiron laptops since day one and have reported to Dell but unfortunately Dell Customer Service and Support have Failed to Address the Issues tell warranty Expiration and then the Hard Drive failure Came, now I would like to try and upgrade to SSD M.2. in Setup and Specifications I found that I can Install One-m.2 drive and One-2.5 inch drive. Is Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 (1TB) or pro seies compatible?, There woulden't be any Bios issues? And is there a limit of storage capacity that my 4-5 Year old Inspiron-17-i5 can handle on both Hard Drives (primary and secondary). Thanks.

i'm having the same issue here. i really doubt my hard drive is broken though, because when i connect my laptop hard drive to my PC (which contains the windows 10 OS) it boots up just fine. any ideas?

@@idk-lb1ek on changing the hdd cable? really simple. take the old cable out, in with the new. one thing i find annoying is disassembling the laptop itself. thankfully mine's pretty easy to disassemble, i don't know about yours, but you should be able to find a plenty of videos on how to do it on YT or something.

@@taoaff EU consegui mas nao adiantou pq eu nao conseguia tirar o icloud do antigo dono... minha esposa continuou procurando e achou em um video em espanhol um cara que ensinou como desbloquear o ipad e como tirar o icloud e deu certo... só que depois de umas horas usando, ele trava de novo (mantendo o icloud) e ai tem que plugar de novo no pc pra destravar.

I get a blue screen and it randomly crashes. Then it tells me hard drive not installed. But If reboot the PC it then recognises the hard drive and logs into windows. Any help? This is a new hard drive.

i had the same thing happening to mine. now it won't even boot. I'm going to try taking out the hard drive and putting it back in. I'm thinking it got loose when i dropped it on accident one time. (not very far, no more than 3 feet) maybe you should try it too.
