This video is awesome! I struggle so much to identify SMD components on FC's so that I can replace them. This is really helpful. I would love more of these, or even just an SMD component review on several different flight controllers and how to find replacement parts online. I am going to go watch all of your repair/SMD-educational videos to see if you already have that but thanks again.

Hey! Thanks so much for this, very helpful. Please may I ask for some advice though re an Omnibus F4 with VBAT input. I have an old one I want to use with INAV for an old plane and realised VBAT is dead so it's the opposite from what you show here. I followed the principles though and soldered a wire to the VBAT input and toned out the 2 diodes. No continuity beep. Also tried it on the 5v in pad and the same result. Does this mean the diodes are fine? Not sure what to try now. I can always grab a 5v board but, would like to learn how to fix this common fault.

Hello Drone Mesh, I have started repairing due to your very very good videos. I repaired 1 4in1 already and switched out a F405 on a CL racing F4 that now is now fully functional again!! very happy with that !. However ont the topic of Schottky diodes. After some searching on the internet for the correct component I found that people have great succes with this type: BAT54C . However this is rated for 30Volts. Is that actually the correct one to use (I do understand the different types but it seems the correct working type, but the voltage me worries me.) Thank you very much in advance for all te advice you can give.

Hello there, I'm sorry for asking something that maybe not be fully related to the topic of this video. I just purchased a speedy Bee F4 V2 stack and the ESC motor No.4 is not working. I have installed 2 proven motors in the ESC No. 4 and none of them are spinning. I have done several tests like voltage o signal and nothing is going out of the ESC No.4. I went to the motor menu and try to make it spin but nothing is working for it, for all others 3 are spinning correctly when I start them to check the spin direction. I'm out of options here is there anything else I can do? Please let me know I will be more than happy to receive your feedback. Thanks for all your help. Regards,

When I touch the 5V from the USB and the 5V in like you I can hear the ding from Windows detecting a new hardware. When I plug in the battery I can see a green light, and I get an image via the vTx and camera but no OSD. The F405 Chip also seems to get quite hot. Not 100% sure, but I think this FC only has one diode on the bottom side. Any suggestions are very welcome..:) Cheers KiwiFPV

hello bro, I have a Speedybeey F405 V3. Previously I checked the 4V5 voltage with Ground which was fine. and the flight controller turns on. However, when I connected the camera and VTX cables, I accompanied this by attaching the ESC and flight control. then I checked using a 6s battery, suddenly the flight controller LED light didn't turn on. and I tried disconnecting the flight controller and connecting it to the battery so that the ESC turned on and made a sound. then after I checked the 4V5 voltage and ground, a beep beep sound came out. Does my FC have a short circuit?

On Horizon Spectrum Crap Quads, Planes, Etc... 2) I also want to mod a couple slider pots onto the back of a TX to wire in conjunction w/the 2- turning pots on radio face, so I can use either/or for like pan/tilt cam mounts, wing tilts, etc!? Where can you get them at???Thanks

Grumpy John TX Redneck RC - you can get all those tiny electronic parts from banggood or even on wish. Drone Mesh showed some sample booklets of components you can buy on banggood. They are reference books with samples of the different sizes/clases, like, resistor samples, diodes and so on. But you should also be able to get them in packs of 25 or 50. All you need to know is the size and the name or number of the component. Most microelectronic parts have a number printed on them, but you need a magnifying glass/microscope to read them. Hope this helps, and good luck shopping ;-)

I changed the diode but I think I used the wrong type. Is there a way to figure that out without having a diagram of the pdb? Maybe I used the wrong diode or even a mosfet, or is a mosfet just a type of diode? Camera , rx , vtx , led pads , buzzer all dead .i think a red wire came off a camera and shorted or the whole thing heated from 2 battery flights and struck a branch. It all went black but had osd and vtx until i started wiggling it around trying to see if it was a loose plug . New flight controller is bigger and nicer . It has 5v and 10 v for vtx and i guess a 3.3v too inside the flight controller . Voltage regulators are 50 cents and fc are $50 . Don't overload your fc's voltage regulator with accessories.

Dear Drone Mash! I have Hobbywing G3 F4 Fc. It does not power on. No usb, no battery. I measured the diodes, all the 3 has the the left leg short to 3.3 V NOT to 5V. Is it normal? Without battery the 3.3V and gnd is shorted. I know that it is not a good sign... When I give power to the board from battery, on the 3.3V pin I can measure 0.41V and a part with 5 legs 2 on one side, 3 on the other side is very hot. It has short to gnd on the middle pin on the 3 leg side and one leg on the 2 leg side. What to do? THX!!!

I know this is old. But, I have a weird one. If i plug in with battery, the board lights up, but the blue FC light doesn't light up. The FC doesn't start up or boot betaflight, but the receiver and other parts power up. Get this, if I plug in a usb battery bank the fc boots, then if I plug in a battery everything works. Then, I can unplug the USB battery power and the quad stays working and flys!!. I've been flying like this for a few days. Plug in usb, then battery, then unplug usb and fly. It is a head scratcher. It must be browning out. I have a blitz f7 mini, which means it has plugs instead of pads (annoying) and its quite dense and small (annoying.) THank you

Great content..would this work for a Mamba F405 MK2 full board too? I also have another Mamba that powers on via USB but not via LiPo - no 5V output on any pads when connected. Which chip would you recommend to change or can it all be by-passed with a micro BEC (like the Matek one) connected to the 5V pads? Thanks

@@kiwifpv5865 no worries man. Mine literally came out of the dead a few hours ago. Trust me more often than not, nothing is burnt. It’s usually a short and apparently when I connected the battery even tho I knew it was a short, everything powered on and the there was no short anywhere on the board anymore!
