I would suggest taking off the black part of the controller with a prying tool like that, and hold the joystick in the opposite direction, where you blow decently hard into the space in the joycon. None of the things you said to do worked for me, all they did was minimize the effect untill I pressed down on my joycon and it came back again. I knew it wasn’t a software glitch because I restarted my controller twice by sticking a flathead screwdriver or a toothpick down the little circular hole on the back of the controller and pressed a button down there for 5 seconds. So yea it’s fixed now so I’m happy.

All right I just have to comment. I'm an electronic repair technician who specializes on video game consoles. I've not yet messed with a ps5 controller because based on the ps4 dualshocks, I know replacing those joysticks can be a pain. I was going to take a crack at it though so I start here. Chad says pull the stick back and blow in it. I roll my eyes, yea sure but okay. I'll try all the steps in order until I get to the solution I 'know' is going to be required (Joystick replacement). So I blow in the thing and holy shit it works. I'm like no way. I intentionally start trying to cause the original issue again. Rocking the stick violently. Pressing on it harder than should be pressed on it. No drift. I'm literally sitting here stunned and dumbfounded. Thanks, a lot for the vid man!

I just want everyone to Remember that stick drift across all consoles wouldn’t be that common if the manufacturers didn’t go for the cheaper joystick options

Omg it works. I was about to buy another controller because my right stick was going crazing. Pushing up or down in game without my input. I tested it on my most drifted games and so far no issues! Was also about to open it for cleaning damn, I might break it. You saved me $$ sir! Subscribed!

So did mine! for now anyways!

I dropped a little (not a lot) isopropyl alcohol on the "ball" part of the stick while the stick was held to the either side. Then move the stick around in a circle and mixing up the direction of your rotations every 4 or 5 rotations or so (or to your liking). I had to do this a couple times before it was fixed, allowing the alcohol sufficient time to evaporate before starting a new "set of rotations".

There's a video that shows the real way to fix It but you do have to take the controller apart . Saved my two controllers.

I've taken apart my PS4 controllers so many times to fix ghosting and drift problems with isopropyl swaps and I was dreading having to do the same with my PS5 controller but hot damn I cannot believe just blowing into it like that worked! You're an absolute life saver! ❤

@zeldadude3 when your analogue gives inputs which are different to the ones you gave. The most common example is when you push all the way forward but the controller registers that as you pushing half way forward and jittering up and down.

Run through the whole routine everytime I start a session haven’t had stick drift since I began doing so, appreciate it man 👍🏻

I was skeptical watching the video but tried it and… it actually worked! I was so relieved, thanks a lot! I used pressurized air on a can instead of blowing myself but it did wonders.

One of my controllers had severe drift to the point of being unusable. The methods in this video fixed it. I did not expect these simple fixes to work at all. Awesome!

I normally just go to walmart and buy a controller and bring the one with drift back the next day..... I shouldn't have to fix Sony's issue.

Eventually I took mine back to Sony to repair, since it's still under warranty. To my great SURPRISE, after a week Sony said they were unable to repair mine (left stick exhibiting constant and pretty severe left drifting) and gave me a BRAND NEW controller LOL

Was not expecting this to work at all. Fixed three controllers with it. Dudes a lifesaver

DUDE!!!!!!!! I'm on my 3rd controller because of this... Went through your methods with all three... got a new controller... 3 controllers passed the test at the pawn shop and it was enough to get a new one... YES!!!!!!!!!!!

held the stick to the lower corner, pressing down on the stick (R3 button) and blowing into it worked. A small piece of dust/debris came out. So relieved that it worked since I a have the special edition God of War Controller. Thanks for the tip!

Same exact thing on mine also under a year, this also worked. Idk how I had a ps 2,3, and 4 and never had this issue lol. I mean after years of dropping etc of course I’d buy a new one but maybe 2 total for either the ps3 or 4 and I had them for YEARS maybe 10 years my ps4.

I couldn't get a small gap but blowing air in 8 points around my left joy stick, it worked! Good stuff! Thanks. Controller is just over a month old.

Pressing the small reset button on the back of the controller can help too.

Thanks a lot, I honestly thought it wouldn't work but it really did, it was an annoying type of stick drift where you would move the analog stick and it would move it left constantly and now its fixed. This helped a lot.

I've had my ps4 controller for about 6 years and it still works like it did when i first bought it. Its a black and blue one made by Sony Playstation. Im thinking about getting a ps5, I purposely waited a few year after the release for a few reasons. They say you should wait for about 3 years before getting the new gen consoles, not only for the price to drop but so that most if the bugs will be worked out of the systems, they always rush to make release deadlines and the systems usually aren't finished
