    Thanks for making this video. I tried a similar one part product that more or less poured into the holes. It improved things but has broken down over about two years. I'll give this one a try. You seemed to be struggling with the syringe on a few holes, had you pulled it back too far or is there some back pressure from the foam that you need to overcome?

    Love this video . Going to be giving the repair a go on my 1993 caravan . Nice to hear a familiar accent as a Swansea boy living in exile in deepest Norfolk . One question , if I drill an 8 MM. hole do I use an 8 MM dowel or a larger one to ram in the hole for a tight fit ? Cymru am byth !!!

  • @Andyroo1984

    @Andyroo1984

    5 жыл бұрын

    Use an 8mm dowel but be sure to drill straight so it stays tight. Once the mixture has dried the dowels have done thier job, they are only effectively low pressure plugs and serve no structural purpose. Good luck with your repair, happy St David's day!

    Watch this video to see how to do it the right way. The glue should NOT be forced into the holes so that it flows up and onto the floor. Glue should go back into the syringe under its own pressure. kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGGAq7yHXafakc4.html

  • @Andyroo1984

    @Andyroo1984

    4 жыл бұрын

    The floor is a sandwich of ply and insulation when the floor suffers delamination the movement breaks down the insulation creating a void and therefore the spongy feeling, it's filling that void that rectified my problem. So when you pump the epoxy in it finds the voids quite easily, the dowels then offer a structure as well as a plug for the hole. I'm only basing this on my personal experience but I can honestly say if I ever faced the same problem again I would use the same method with the only exception being I would wear gloves

    Does the epoxy kill mold and repair rotted wood?

  • @Andyroo1984

    @Andyroo1984

    5 жыл бұрын

    No it needs the wood to be in a reasonable condition to work, it is intended to replace the damaged foam within the floor bonding both top and bottom wood together thus relaminating of sorts. If the wood is perished I recommend removing as much is as feasible and replacing with 6mm marine ply and then move forward with epoxy but that's not something I have done personally. Good luck with your repair I have full faith you will get it done and be touring in no time, thanks for watching

    I don't see why not. as long as its fully bonded to the floor and you plan on covering it, should be fine. I would say though it would make the job easier to see and assess everything fully first as if you start and find it's seeping around under the floor covering it will be very messy trying to remove once one or two holes are filled. Hope all goes well, thanks for watching.

  • @Andyroo1984

    @Andyroo1984

    7 жыл бұрын

    My floor had already dried over time due to sorting out the skylight and the heat naturally drying it for me. if your floor is still damp I would recommend finding and fixing the fault first then using a dehumidifier to aid the drying, I wouldn't imagine it taking very long due to the thickness of the top layer of the floor board only being 4-6mm. All the best of luck with your repairs thanks for watching

    Any pipe or wires will be viable under the caravan. you shouldn't drill right through anyway, just through into the foam floor insulation layer. There shouldn't be anything running through the middle of the insulation it will either be on top of the floor behind the seats and cupboards etc or fixed to the underside and drilled through. Good luck

    So you had water damage in the floor causing rot, delamination of the plywood, and likely mold growth and, instead of inspecting the full extent of the problem you just epoxied the hell out of it?! Depending on the epoxy composition, mold can still continue to grow and expand into new areas. If the water damaged wood also was still moist (typically more than 15%) then the epoxy has not fully adhered and within a few years the 'soft spots' will be back.... But worse.

    djbmw1 Thanks for your comments, as a family man I would much rather use a tried and tested product and get it out for a holiday than waste time, sunshine and money on a very low risk, your assumptions about the level of inspections I carried out are way off and I'm happy to report the floor still is as solid as ever. I stand by my recommendation of the product and rate it highly for the type of repair I used it for, if required in future I will use it again. At the end of the day I'm fixing the problem not factory restoring the floor.
