How to fix camshaft position sensor codes for good. Know the signs and symptoms why it goes bad and fail. P0340. Replacement is not necessary as there are variables that can cause the sensor to not work properly. This video will show you the tapping and wiggle test to check for faulty connection and wires.
To check the camshaft position sensor, it is located on the cylinder head. Check for oil leaks as it can cause it to stop working properly and malfunction.

Always good vids, start with small problems, end with the hard stuff, I been a mech for 35 years, this guy tells it how it is ,no bs here, 👍
Cheers mate, the first person I've found who actually tells what can cause the code!!!
Exceptional thank you
THANK YOU SIR
Really good video stating to see lot of fly by wire cars geting up in age I'm trying to diagnose a 2015 chevy 6.0 with Alison's ill get it straight and another part will go bad did research found out was flood truck where thinking on car facts and he didn't know he bought it threw used dealership but Ben nothing but trouble 4th time this truck Ben down in a year sense I've Ben working for the man it frustrating to try this try that hope it works can't return electric parts and their not cheep
A weak tensioner would cause a P0340 only if the timing chain skips a tooth; right? I have a 1995 Maxima. I did a head job and changed the pistons and rings. If I mistakenly swapped the exhaust and intake camshaft(if possible) would that cause a P0340 code? I have spark. Great video. Thanks.
Very informative. 3 questions. 1 is this something u can replaced and walk away? 2 does this require you to relearn the part? If so is there a scan tool for a diy person to use to relearn the component?
Hey bro is their a way to FaceTime you to show you my issue with my 2009 Chevy Malibu recently put a new cam phaser and I timed it correctly I had the special tool when I put it all back together it drove perfect then down the road it went into limp mode and turned off
Thank you for the video, I have a code p0340 on Infiniti g37 we’ve changed sensors and wiring already , hard time starting and hard jerking at 2,000rpm or 20mph going to use all these tips possibly timing cover replacement????

I have one on my g too im not sure what the actual issue is I also have P0335 .
I had this problem on my ram 1500 4.7 for about a year now. First, the code showed up once a month, but always goes away by itself, but now check engine light is always on and im basically driving in limb mode everyday, i had replaced the sensor and the harness and didn't fix the problem. I also find out that i have a blow headgasket. I was just waiting for the truck to die, but engine and transmission are still strong after almost 300k miles, might be time for a engine rebuild, i will take it to a mechanic next month for a inspection and a estimate.

Still going?
My name is David. I'm having an issue with 2010 Dodge Grand caravan with a 3.3 l has 148,000 mi. It ran good when I bought it off my niece. I am in a process of flipping it so I put new tune up and crank sensor and cam sensor. New exhaust new caddy new bank 1 bank 2. Oxygen sensor new AC pump and new intake gasket. Put new gas cap and the normal. I forget the name of the e-bap under by the charcoal canister that are common on the dodges and now I'm getting every check engine light code for every sensor that I've changed and also gas cap. I've had it smoked and there is no leaks..
OK, you ready. The one most important thing that you forgot to mention the entire video was the re learn process. I don't know if you just failed to mention this or if you don't know what you're doing. Number one problem when replacing these sensors is the learn process, if you skip it, you're gonna have a code all the time and you'll even get other codes thrown. If you replace a camshaft or crankshaft sensor, you must use a computer to perform the relearn process. If the vehicle requires it look up your specific you're making model to see if it requires a relearn process. otherwise it will act as if you never replace the sensor to begin with.

This is quite helpful as i have the similar problem. i changed the sensor, wash the engine, change oil and did everything but the engine light always comes back with the same error code. Is this relearning can be done with normal diagnostic computer or is it a specialized device?
