Perfect timing, I have 2 quads exhibiting classic I-Term bounce back and this video was great help in identifying the issue and understanding what to change to correct the issue. Excellent video demonstrating the issue and showing how to fix in a clear and understandable way.

THIS * 1000000! I’ve struggled tuning out the last tiny bit of bounce back on my toothpick. I already had I term relax at 15. Got 95% bounce back tuned out through pids. I gave up on the last 5%, till this video. I dropped it to I term relax to 10 RP Set point, and never had cleaner stops after hard flips and rolls! Thank you!!

I got the most out of this tuning video that I haven’t seen on a lot of videos. I think you would do a great job explaining basic pid tuning and what p I and d are responsible for. Tuning is the hardest part and most of the videos out there are confusing.

Hi Mark, Would weight effect any of these terms and what would the effects of different weights be? Say for example. Tune without Go Pro with no bounce backs and then add a go pro, or vicer versa, tune with a go pro and then take it of or use a lighter or heavier one? Could the effect of less or more weight induce bounce back and which term would it most likely effect? Hope this makes sense!

Hi! I have a problem with my quad, I can't use it with a pwm frequency other than 32Khz, if I use 24Khz, the quad starts to do yaw twiches. I know that the problem is the esc, because I tried with different flight controllers, but the problem doesn't go away. It is flyable with 32Khz, but the motors get very hot. Why is that happening?

Is it possible for I term to be more aggressive? Cause my bounce back has the aggressive nature of p term bounce back, but it's even more visually noticeable than the I term bounce back you show here. I'm thinking it's just really bad i term bounce?

Yes, high i-Gains will make the i-Term react faster, so it gets even harder to tell the difference between i and P bounceback. But logging can easily tell you which.

hello! I hope you have a chance to read and reply to help solve an issue I’m having. When letting go of the sticks after rolling or pitching, I get major fluttering and that’s with a default tune and a tuned build I couldn’t get rid of it. I haven’t had this issue before.

Is it possible, that the rates are to high for a heavy quad and it can't keep up with the stick input?

absolutly. That happens for almost every 5" and up. Toothpics up to 3.5" can track high rates pretty well. Whoops nah ... and for 5" freestyle it happens a lot.

Hi Mark. I love your Videos. Can you help me with my bouncback? My last video first roll and next and next always with huge bouncback. Only with roll.

How is your quad not spazzing out after full throttle chopping with an AG gain of 12? I ended up with pretty much the same gains and throbbling is perfect with an AG gain of 12 but on a full throttle chop the quad is spazzing around.

12 is a little high. I just jumped back to 10. May need 8 even. Just lower 2 points at a time to find the max.

@@uavtech Will try as soon as the rain stops. Tried 10 already but with same symptoms. Going to test, not sure if these high gains is the best we can do. Maybe lower gains and less filtering on D gives the same wash results while being able to use those high ag gain settings in order to get rid of any throbbles. On 12 there is like 1-3 degrees max error 😍

@@uavtech 9 seems to be the magical number. If I go 10 even on lower PIDs like P in the low 60's its spazzing out after full throttle chop.

Are you sure you weren't just flying a KISS setup on the i-term bounceback 🤭

Should we log in GYRO_SCALED mode to try doing the same analysis?

Yeah. I chose to.move down to get a more substantial setup where it is warm all rear around. :-) The garage gets cold.

@@uavtech Yes. I'm used to tuning 3.5 was my go to for tuning. Decided to try 4.2 alot of uneeded features.. All FF off. Dmin off. Pd balance 1.3 master up by 1 Antigravity off. Flys close to 3.5 maybe a little stiffer. Also filters set to 1.2 on both

I don't have any of these problems in the simulators. Fly the simulators. A lot cheaper, crash all you want, and get about 1000x more flight time in instead of wasting your time with this old obsolete tech. "Uncrashed" is the current hotness. Really, I see no reason to fly the real hardware anymore.. at all. Just an easy way to lose a $500 piece of gear in a lake or down a mountain ravine and ruin your year. In the 3,000 hours since I started flying sims, I've never once changed a PID, a prop, or charged a battery. Name one real life hardware pilot that's got 3,000 stick hours in the air. You can't. That's why I can aerobatically smoke them all in the air.

Sims don't have real-world consequences. I flew flight sims and drove racing sims for a couple of decades before taking up FPV quads. I've never gone back to sims. Making a 'perfect' flight in a sim is easy; not so much in real life. However, if that's your groove, have at 'er!

Yeah, well. You can read about welding all you want but without actually welding, you don't know how to weld. You just know how to read about it. I know how to do most of the tricks, even the technical ones in the simulator but I don't have the heart to even try them outside the sim. Just like I wouldn't try an open heart surgery even if I spent 3000 hours in the simulator practicing it. Simulator is just an approximation, anyways. But if you're willing to let some simulator surgeon to take a their first stab at your chest, I'll take your word for it - simulator hours equal hours in the air.

I have over 2,500 hours logged in MSFS9 on a Canadair CT-114 Tutor, the same flight model that was used by the RCAF's 431 Demonstration Squadron for training and programme development. I would never, ever have the temerity to tell an actual Snowbird pilot that I could wax his or her tail. That's just silly talk. Sims only go so far.

Bro, I've been flying for 6-7years, and I have to say honestly, I have absolutely zero idea what the heck your talking about. I tried seeing what ur seeing, but again, u totally lost me, ! That's alright I suppose, cuz I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but you may wanna actually Try explaining abit slower and in much more detail what the hell you are talking about, and more importantly, how your seeing what you are seeing in regards to the lines that r obviously your stick movements etc, I get that, but everything else like how u r seeing "bounceback" in the lines?! Anyways, hope that maybe helps someone in the future from feeling stupid, cuz im, what I guess what most would refer to as far from a rookie or amateur when flying Quads , but even better still, I have not a clue what this was supposed to show and or fix. Thankx for hearing me,, and most importantly, I meant no disrespect in what I said regarding your im certain is a most well done educational video. I think I'm just not bright enough to pick up what you were putting down.

I wasted labout 3 grand on RC stuff and quadcopters, and only flew one of them... once. My optometrist measured my eyesight last week and said it was 20/LPO... which means, light perception only. If I walked past one only 5 feet away on the ground, I would not see it even if I loaded it up with strobes. Goggles are absolutely worthless and an abortion; I can't move my eyes closer to the screen, so see a thing in them on a tiny scren. Nothing in this hobby is made for visually impaired people. 2020/2021 was the year I went blind. I can solder like a boss, but not when the world is a blurry mess with no depth perception. This hobby desperately needs to get it together and standardize on standard connectors for everything. Ditch the soldering entirely. When was the last time you built a PC gaming rig and had to solder..anything? Never. Ever. Not since.. the early... 1970's. I may be blind, but I'm the worlds best aerobatic pilot. Don't believe me, try me. So ponder that. Why is this hobby such an absolute "we don't give a sh1t" d1ck to those with disabilities? The RC hobby is 70 yeas old; it's had plenty of time to mature. Two years ago, I was driving motorcycles on the road. Now I can't count my fingers if I hold my hand out. If it can happen to me, it can happen to anyone. You may wonder, why the h3ll Choppergirl are you ranting off topic about something that does not involve FC settings tweaking. The answer is simple; I consider you one of the smartest of the bunch. So I'm throwing this problem smack dab in the center of your workbench and on your soldering mat. You want a challenge. Here you go. Solve this. Clean up this hobby. Make it accessible to all. Drag it kicking and screaming into 2022. Take a look at a Molex connector and think, why can''t we do something like this for ESC's and motors? What can I do to catapult this all forward by... standardization across the board. If yo don't, eventually I'll get so p155ed off.. I do it. Because I'm fed up with this sh1t. Arms aren't interchangable between frames. Motors don't even have the same bolt hole patterns. DJI cameras can't even direct plug into VIstas. Nano crossfires have buttons and solder pads on them that are a microscopic joke. WTF. Intel has this cycle they call Tik-Tok. One cycle is a great leap forward; the other cycle is to polish and refine as much as they can on the last great leap forward. You're stuck in Tok polishing when there's not much left to polish out, and you're wasting your talents there. There's only so much you can polish a tvrd until it won't shine any brighter. What we need now is the next big TIk and a great leap forward. Talk to ANSI. You're an elite engineer, this hobby has a Main Bus B under volt, and we need to fit a round peg to a square hole. Solve it! Bounce back...

@@MysteryD Bardwell told me they tried bullet connectors, and I have some of the biggest box goggles ever made... two pairs of 4" cyclops. Not even close in size to my 10" fpv monitor... which is nowhere near immersive as my 44" TV. You don't realize how bad goggles really are until you pipe a sim menu through them and try and read the tiny text on them and navigate through the menus. You can't
