Are you close to Sacramento? I have like 30 of these tapes. I bought a video camcorder and transferred a few myself but the quality is horrible. I know it's not the tapes but it has to be the old camcorder. The tapes have been well preserved from 1995 to 2006. I used a video capture software from amazon to transfer the video. The software gave me the option to brighten the video and fix the contrast, saturation...etc but it doesn't look natural.

I have a sony dcr-trv460 camcorder, it twill rewind and fast forward but will not play! all I get is a blue screen I tried the head clean that has never "been used" that it came with to fast forward and rewind but can't get any tape to lock into play position! help!

Could be a number of things. Find a local camcorder repair person or buy a few more on eBay and fingers crossed

The problem ive been having is that when i put the tapes in the camcorder and try to play it back, its just a blue screen with nothing on it for the whole runtime. I'm hoping that the heads on the camera just aren't functioning correctly because i played those same tapes on the same camera about 4-5 years ago and it worked perfect. I surely hope the tapes didn't fully degrade over just 4-5 years, the footage is from about 20 years ago so i'm not sure.

I am having some troubles with Mini DV tapes. While trying to capturing the video. The Video plays and looks fine on the camcorder screen. However the screen on computer (OBS Studio) Randomly drops to blue screen and back. Is this a tape issue? I appreciate and advice. Your Doing Gods work my friend. I sent a few people your way after showing them your videos.

Just a question, when I try digitizing my tapes, there's this weird thing where the tape's audio doubles, and the 2nd audio that's being heard is delayed. What could be causing this and how would I fix it?

Hey! I don’t know if you’ve solved this issue or not, but I had the exact same thing happen to me - If you’re using OBS studio to capture the footage, be sure that you turn off your “Desktop Audio” audio source before capturing. Make sure that when capturing the only audio source activated is the media capture device assigned to the camcorder - it sounds dumb but this took me days to figure out.

Hello sir, I have a lot of VHS-C tapes, but my problem is that when I watch the tapes from my camera, there's no issue with the image. However, when I connect the camera to my computer via a USB video capture device, the screen flickers with a blue screen. What do you think is the solution?

Heartwarming to see you're dedicated to Apple computers! :) I'm currently trying to save and digitize about 40-50 video8 and Hi8-tapes from a deceased friend of mine. I was able to find a Sony EV-C2000E PAL Video8 recorder locally but it only shows a blue screen while playing several tapes. The audio is just bursts of noise every few seconds. FFD or RWD while playing never shows any image-fragments of the tapes. I now want to swap the video-head in the recorder from a camcorder that has other mechanical issues.

@@gotmemories - I'm located in the Netherlands, Europe. (My friend passed away last year) I got the box with tapes. 'till now I've only encountered 1 tape that will give some image and sound, all the rest seem to give issues. I'm thinking it's maybe related to a tape tracking- or head-alignment issue.

Well, the solution struck me slowly (duh); I found out my friend's tapes were shot with a Digital8 camera, while I was trying to digitize them with Hi8 player... Hence no image and no sounds on all the tapes. I couldn't understand why none of the tapes even showed 'some' imageor something... Until it started to dawn on me. Bought a Digital8 camera and the tapes all play perfectly...! Thanks for your replies @@gotmemories

My biggest problem with these cameras is the dv tapes, when I try to watch dv tapes with this camera I only see a blue screen, help

Contaminated or worn out video head more than likely. Anyone DIY’ing it needs head cleaners and multiple back up players

Yesss!! Bingo!!! And yet people keep sending the only copy of their precious home movies off to them, even with red flags galore, it’s truly the biggest scam job going. Former staff have reached out telling me what goes on behind closed doors, it’s shocking & completely needless. It’s pure greed, churn and burn.

What if there is a time stamp and footage but it's a blue screen?

Common on Mini DV to keep rolling w date stamp. Nothing there or could be the camera crapped out back in the day.
