I cringe when I hear a coach tell athletes to ‘stay low’ out the blocks

Good to know😅
Thank you for this, very helpful. I am a Masters athlete doing 200 and 400 and whilst max speed is fine I lose a lot since I step out rather than push out at the start. Any tips on exercises to gradually work that out of my system?

How should you control your hips when going into the set position - just rise them straight up? Also, how high should your hips be in the set position? For example, should you try to just rise ur hips as high as you comfortably can?

Hips 4-6” higher than shoulders. The key is to expand shin-thigh angles. Low hips, tight angles. High hips, expanded angles.

How do you fix overstriding out of the blocks? Seems like the most common issue for newer athletes

Heg coach, what do you think about speedvtraijing on a treadmill? For example, setting it to a certain speed then trying to maintain it.

Seems like sprinting to keep up with the ground moving fast underneath you should be only a small part of training.

High school coach for 43 years. You don’t have to listen to me. Never coached an Olympian. One of my guys ran in Olympic Trials 2020.

What school you coach at? I looked at the Texas relays. Most of the runners in highschool sprinting was football players going to college on football scholarship. What school was you coaching? If you don't mind telling
