I used this method today on a large heavy, sticky, hallway door in an academic building. I’m still in shock that it was sooooo easy

What if the old owners painted over the hinges because they didn’t feel like removing the door

Didn’t realize theirs an specific pliers for that! I’m trying to do it with normal pliers and it’s really hard 🤬

Oh it's extremely balls hard man I left the office replaced the hinges to the old door and it was never closed being an old building went to close it and it touches the bottom before the top and rubs so I'm gonna try taking the middle and bottom pin out and bend em back . Because I already took a freaking multi tool and beveled the bottom 1ft on the trim of the latch side and I put some screws thru the side as well and man I don't made it looked like the bombing of Baghdad. Used wood filler and tomorrow gonna take a rag and stain and go over it so the lady don't complain I already put a lil hole from underneath up when we moved her office and I put the l shaped desk back together so she's gonna freaking do backflips tomorrow morning when she sees what jiggarig shit I did😅😂

Just googled it, they’re called "Knucklebender"

Please do not do this. As someone who has been in the industry for a long time i can tell you that bending the knuckles of a hinge while it is screwed into the door puts undue strain on the screws. Sooner or later youe will have screws thay can not be tightened down.

​@@Deflow91it depends on where the door is rubbing. In this case the shim should be places on the inside of the top hinge at the frame. If you put the shim on the inside it pivots the door towards the hinge side of the frame. If you place the shim at the outside of the hinge it will pivot the door away from the hinge side of the frame.
