    I have a 53B with that exact problem, pristine Pulsar in a delightful chocolate brown strap and dial and it looked like someone hammered on the stem release button and of course it stopped allowing the stem to be caught up by the works. I was going to just buy another movement but now I can see where it is and I have a 57B with the same issue I can save some dough and just put it all right, thank you :D

    Nice video sir i wish i had steady hands like you and then i could do more repair work. I have an invicta that i purchased a replacement movement for but the hands are so small that i lost one and now not sure if i can put back together. 😢it I've been told that it wouldn't be cost effective to get a watch tech to do. 😢 but it. May be a practice watch?? It's a shame as its a nice looking piece. But i did enjoy your skills. 😊

    Thanks for the video! I bought a Kc on ebay with a VD53D that has the same kinda issue. I was thinking about just replacing the movement as it's only like $29 here, but maybe I'll give this a try first. If I mess it up, I can always get a new movement later. I'll be watching more of your videos. lol

    Hello Valentech, I'm having the same movement and unfortunately for some reason the chrono is not working properly. The Reset button does not react at all by pushing upper button. When I pull out the stem at 3rd position than the upper button moves the 6 oclock chrono hand and the 9 oclock hand move as well but as long I push back the crown to start position and click to reset the chronograph the hands does not move at all, what this could cause the problem? I have changed the battery only and before that everything was working perfectly. Thank you for your help! Also I did short-circuit AC and the battery connection +, I dont know if I should do the same for both points for the chrono buttons as well? Thank you once again.

  • @ValentechTime

    @ValentechTime

    Hello DopeINk, I think your watch works fine. First, the upper button is not a Reset button. It controls start/stop of the chronograph when crown is in a first position (closest to the case). It also is used to set the chrono seconds and minutes hands to zero position (while crown is in the 3d position). Bottom button is used to pause/release chrono when crown is in a first position, and also used for chrono zero setting (when crown is in the 3d position), but in the opposite direction to the upper button. Now, about Reset function. You did it right, when shorted AC contact to +. This is recommended after battery replacement, when case is open. But you can do Reset also, when case is closed. For that you should move crown to the 3d position and press both buttons simultaneously. This will do Reset. Any of these methods do Reset for the whole movement. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    @@ValentechTime Thanks for the answer! I read somewhere that plastic gears in quartz watches can be even better than metal ones because they are self-lubricating. I don't know if that's true but I have Casio Edifice with that movement so we'll see 😉 btw i subscribed, great content

    Hello Valentech, I recently had to disassemble my watch (the watch face got stuck in the case). I put everything back successfully but the seconds sub dial does not go in. Do you have any suggestions? I also wore out the paint on the seconds sub dial, would enamel paint be appropriate to apply? if so should should I use an enamel paint pen or apply it with a brush? Where did you get the tweezers with the silicone tips you used at the beginning of the video? I apologize for all these questions and thank you in advance.

  • @ValentechTime

    @ValentechTime

    It's unclear tome what had happened to the second subdial. What do you mean when saying it doesn't go in? Please clarify. Is it the same movement as in my video? In regards of dial painting, I never did this. Most probably, it's not enamel, but a paint and it's very hard to match it with a new patch. Or you need to remove an original painting and do new layer by yourself. As for the tweezers, here is the link to the Amazon site: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07P6MDPF9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Thank you for getting back to me Valentech. I meant the hand for the seconds sub dial. It does not go into the movement and yes it is the same movement as the one shown in your video (VD53B). How can I remove the paint from the dial? What do you recommend.

  • @ValentechTime

    @ValentechTime

    @@SimonRashidi If hand doesn't go into the movement, then there is either misaligned hole or broken pivot, where hand is sitting on. I use the Master Stages CLEAN2020 solution to clean clock parts. It has some acid which should remove paint from the dial, just keep dial in the solution for some time (about 1-2 hours), bit not too long.

    @@SimonRashidiThere is no way to fix a pivot of the subdial gear, the gear should be replaced. Look at the 11th minute of the video where I am checking the stem function. Did you check the same and did it work the same way as it's shown? If yes, then there is another cause of the stem coming out and I had this another symptom before. At the same point of video locate the groove on the upper metal plate which is just above the stem. The green pinion is next to this point on the right. Take a small screwdriver and press the metal part of the plate where the groove is. It should fix your problem. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
