How to FIX a POOR SETUP CDL School Training
Every error, can be FIXED ! On the Alley Dock, move to the LEFT a short distance and the trailer will move back to the right. Now on time to enter the ALLEY.

My partner is having trouble with the reverse offset - blindside. These tips would help her out immensely if this setup was exact but something doesn't seem right. The company/school program she's in says that Minnesota has changed their rules on this maneuver, requiring it to be more precise by adding cones about where the 2nd red cone is when backing in (in between the area where the green cones are in the video). I looked online and found no such diagram, and based on what she drew out for me and recorded, it looks damn near impossible to back in without clipping the cones with the semi. She is the only one left in the class who doesn't have cdl driving experience and the only one who has had trouble with it. Both the instructor and the two other experienced students barely completed the maneuver but did so by having to pull up twice and clipped the cones slightly. Apparently the instructor hasn't had a failure in over 3 years until this change happened, which happened about 3-4 weeks ago. She does excellent on the written part and has studied her ass off day and night. I feel like they are setting her up for failure and screwing her over for $7k in schooling.

I have several reverse offset videos. Short and long ones. The CDL school must work with those students who need extra help. The FMCSA states that the students must be proficient in all skills. Many CDL schools will still schedule them for testing and change them for retesting. ( see bad CDL schools videos) Hopefully the test will be done in a day cab - 48 foot trailer .
Much needed thank you for taking the time and showing how to fix I failed my test two weeks ago skills portion re testing today needed they information

If the trailer is to far to the left, you can reposition the trailer by going to the right 6 feet the back to the left. Look at your left mirror. When you see the cone, straighten out. For the parallel park, if you have three cones ( to far to the right) once again move to the right then to the left. As soon as the middle cone comes into view in your left mirror, straighten out. Not sure what skill you will be doing. Practice moving the trailer left and right- make sure your mirrors are properly positioned. For the skills, you need a good set up .

@@ShaunTachelle hi Bama, In three weeks, you will with hard work get it done. Motor Skills as it relates to range skills is doing a skill over and over. When doing the 90 degree alley dock, don’t over do your set up. Turn the steering wheel to the right and back up a short distance and get the steering wheel straight. Back up ten feet. Are you going into the Alley? If not? Use small pull ups to adjust the trailer. View all my videos and my playlists for this skill. ( click onto playlist). Three weeks is enough time. You need to train your brain to react to the trailer. This is motor skills. Best to you in the coming three weeks You can and will do all skills in this time frame.

@@ShaunTachelle If you are coming in early, your over doing your set up. Or not controlling the trailer moving to the left by turning the steering wheel to the left as needed to keep it on track. ( to the alley). When it starts going late, turn the steering wheel to the right get it on time and back with the left. Remember, small pull up when needed.
My drive tire and mudflap keeps going out of bounds on the right. What am I doing wrong? Can you please help me
@truckerstevecdlinstructor

Remember it’s only a 12 feet wide. When you see your left drive tires going more then one yard to the center of the alley, your right front trailer and right drive tires are going out of bounds. Hopefully the trailer is in the alley. Just do a small pull up then back the rear of the trailer into the three foot box. View the overhead full test. When this driver backs into the alley, you can see a lot of space between the left drive tires and the line. The right side is out of bounds ( two points). On that video you cannot see the right side but the driver backs up to much. With the left drive tires on or near the left line, should have the left on to back under the trailer. Check the right mirror and if necessary pull up.
Good ifea to use toy trucks for examples

What state? If you are not ready to test, tell the school you are not ready and why. If possible put it in writing. Send the written reason to the school so hopefully you will receive a written response. Did you do your part showing up every day? Ect. So if the force you to take the test and you fail, you can fight back for any retest charges . Did you view my videos on bad CDL schools on - my videos and on my playlist? Will be adding more. What skills are you still having problems with?

I had this down in 1 hour backing up 12 different trucks. It was so easy that i feel silly that I ever thought it was difficult. Tomorrow I'm gonna go out and buy 12 NEW toy trucks and see I can do it easily again. This was s breeze honestly.

@@stalkerstomper3304 I have about two videos on offset to the right. In a tractor trailer ( not a toy truck). Should be one on how to fix a poor set up also. Click onto my playlist also. The offset to the left, the driver must his left mirror. Straight line back ( if needed, some left to get the trailer heading towards the cone.). When the right tire is on the or just before, hard left to bring it into the alley. Make sure you are always looking at the correct mirrors. If you have a poor set up, you can fix it going back wards. The real of the trailer is facing to far off the cone to the right. Do another setup- turn the steering wheel to the right and back up little the following up with the left to get the tractor trailer straight. Hopefully now your trailer is heading one to two yards off the cone Students need to practice moving the trailer to the left and right. You are the boss of where that trailer is going. The trailer is not the boss, YOU ARE! It’s all about reacting to your trailer. Since I am no longer teaching at a CDL school, if needed I can make a video at my job for you or use your favorite toy tractor 🚜
