Be careful using a multimeter on ohms to test for shorts on modern electronics. It is common for many meters to pass tens of mA of current while making this measurement. If you try to measure a short on a sensitive device, the METER may actually supply enough current, to actually cause more damage then good. Many sensitive junctions will not allow that, and just putting the meter on them can fry it. If you do use a multimeter like this, use a quality one and not a $5 one, and check that the current being passed to measure resistance is not more then one or two milliamps. Good video though. Glad you fixed it. :) I'm a bit nervous of how they shipped the replacement boards to you without anti-static protection...

I use a thick cardboard and paint the backside of the TV on it, then i push the screws trough the cardboard in the places they belong. Takes a bit more space than bags but makes 100% sure wicht one belongs where =)

Hi mine blinks 4 times. I've disconnected the power to the LCD board and now it's blinks 7 times. It takes a little longer when disconnected but still the relay powers down. I get a buzzing from a board on the other side of TV before the relay trips out.

Your so lucky I've had one sitting in my repair room for a year now its completely dead and been dead for 2 years. Only way to get a blink is holding 2 buttons at once . The digital optical light , light up. Stays on apx. 20 seconds (no screen working , lights on / sound or fans running) then here a clicking sound and goes off . Any tips ?

That sounds like the power supply. If you're using the TC-P55ST30 then you'd want the N0AE6KK00007. So you know what to look for, here's one on ebay. www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-TXN-P1PAUU-N0AE6KK00007-Power-P-Board-for-TC-P55ST30-/292702401835?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTabs_0 Make sure the power's drained before you handle it, because those caps can sting. :)

How did you test the y-sustain board? It's hard to see what pins were tested. I know my upper buffer board is bad, but I need to check the y-sustain to make sure it doesn't keep blowing the buffer boards.

I was testing the pins that stuck into the plug from the power supply. If you look on the rear of the plug you'll see where it connects to the motherboard. I used those connections for the test. You could try probing directly into the front of the plug, but I found this method was easier.

Distractor_Beam I tried each of the 4 pins to the board and the third pin has a connection. I bought a replacement board and this one does the same. I guess one of the pins is ground the other 3 serve other purpose? I keep seeing the upper and lower buffer boards going bad and not sure why? could you send me a video showing up close how to check the y-sustain and how a good board should act? thank you.

The buffer boards go bad because the IC gets very hot and ends up failing. There should only be 2 pins on the plug (I believe it's called "SC2"). One is ground, the other is power. I will likely be making another video on this TV soon, but I can't guarantee if it will be within the next week or so.

That is a possibility. It could also be a buffer board. I'd check it the way I show in the video at 0:20 with a multimeter. One way I heard to check the Ysus is to check between a ground (a screw) on the Ysus board and the power pin where it plugs into the power supply. If that pegs, then there's a short on the ysus board. I had checked that on my set when I was probing, and it pegged then dropped back down. I'm not sure what that means, but it turned out to be alright. Hope that helps.

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I got a different -problem with Panasonic TC-P50X5 50" Plasma TV. It turns on and displays image. However, about just a minute it shuts off and red blinking light sets in. It turns for about 10 times, pauses and goes for another 10 times. I was wondering what causes this issue. If I disconnect the power cable and plug it in again, it would do the same thing. Thanks for your help.

I did a search for 10 blink code and found that the A board (where you plug everything into the TV) is reporting bad voltages. If it's running fine for a minute, and then not, it might be overheating. I'd pull the back off, clean it with an air duster, and make sure if it has any fans in it, that they are clean and blowing.

@@Distractor_Beam Thanks for the reply. I noticed it actually blinks 12 times. As of the existence of a fan inside the TV, I am not sure. I am going to open it up again tomorrow and double check. Yes, I am also going to clean it inside and see What it would do. Thanks again.

@@Distractor_Beam Amazing, you are totally right. I opened up the TV while it is still on its stand and checked out what you suggested. There is no existing fan inside. However, I used a small fan that blows air right on the board and tested. Guess what, it the TV works perfectly. So we know the culprit is the logic board. I am going to see what is causing the overheat and attempt to fix it, if not I will just get a replacement. Thanks a million.

It may be caused by the cold for me. But I haven't seen the same issue for the others. So it's likely rare seeing that problem. Left it the next day, and it works perfectly I guess? It's been 3 years since this happened. Now I don't have the Panasonic Plasma TV anymore. Lucky for me, nothing got shorted out. So... yeah.
