Lol, sorry to hear that. I have another video on endoscopes to see through walls and ceilings. That may be less invasive. But if you open the ceiling, you'll at least feel better if it's nothing too, even if you do have to respackle and paint.

@@RaymondCanDoIt yeah I had the same issue, client had a leak and had to open it up from below, leaking from the abs to the drain where that gasket is. But all I had to do in this case was tighten the nut down on the gasket and it stopped the leak.

Great video. I have exactly the same problem. When you cut the gasket, from which end did you cut it? From the top or the bottom?

I cut the gasket from the bottom, leaving the beveled side at the top.

Would silicone work on top of the gasket

It's possible, but I wouldn't recommend it because the pan may flex when people stand on it, causing the silicone to leak.

In my opinion I think tour pvc pipe is a little bit short By bring up the pipe you don’t need to modify the rubber gasket.

Good point! That probably would have been the better way, but I didn't want to disturb the existing plumbing.

I already patched it up. But next time I have a large patch in the ceiling, I'll make a video!

So you pvc pipe was cut too low.

Yep basically, but the length was correct based on the shower pan instructions. So I had to shorten the gasket.

Would have been a great help if you really showed the entire process

Thanks for the comment. I'll have to do that in the future. I usually try before I make a video. With this one, I didn't want to press my luck taking the gasket out.

Agree completely.

Use a glued drain then you won't have that problem

Sorry to hear that.

Whoever makes and engineer’s this stuff is a horrible person.. how hard would it be to make it so have pieces that go down into the pipe so you don’t have stupid issues like this.. common sense the shower itself can have the drain hole go down a little into the drain pipe and the connection holding the pipe secure above and around that… but no..we get parts that work for a few years if you held your mouth just right when first doing it.
