How to fix a leaking outside tap. Hose union bib tap.
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
How to change the washer, or fix a leak from the packing nut where the handle is, or a leak from the back of the tap where it screws into the pipework. Play to the end to watch my new sponsor. Ha ha.

Just done my first soldering this week after having to relocate a rad. No leaks so far. Thanks Al for all the tips and tricks. Learn a lot from plumber parts too. Two great plumbing channels 👍

Thanks had a new tap in the shed, nicked the new washer out of it and put it in the old tap easier than removing whole old tap and faffing with PTFE tape ! cheers

I never realised the PTFE had to be wound into a string! I've always tried to keep it flat and wind it on like a bandage! Many thanks for that!

Hi, very helpful video. Should I get a new tap with a 'check valve' or is that not important. I believe it stops back pressure, whatever that is. Whats you take on this. Thanks.
@dereton33

Yes buy one with the check valve fitted.
Thank you for this, just wanted to ask what to do if the tap handle is not fully turning off and keeps turning
@dereton33

Means the spindle is gone, a new tap will be required.

Before you turn the water off, fill the kettle. Oooh!. a bibb tap with an integral check valve. Hope your keeping well, Al. I'm going mad(der).

Yes you can Terry.
Hi Al. Every time I turn on my tap it makes a quite strong rumbling noise and vibrates quite violently. Is there something that can be done for that, or is replacement the only option?
@dereton33
4 жыл бұрын
Replace the washer or turn down the flow rate.
@kalintri

@@dereton33 I guess I will try replacing the washer. This is the only place that this is a problem, so I do not really want to turn down the flow rate to the entire house for that. Thanks!
Hi, my tap is leaking constantly even if I turn the tap off. Do I do what you've set out in this video or do I need to replace the tap entirely?
@dereton33

Fix it as in the video.
Hi my tap doesn’t have a normal nut but has a round one with groves in it how do I open this type. Thanks
@dereton33

You will need grips to get a hold and turn the round nut.
How can you tell if your tap has a built in check valve or not?
@dereton33

There will be a small bolt on the underside.
