Nice man! Hey one thing (if you mix a lot of mud): use a painters stick. 5 gallon stick if you're mixing a large quantity. It'll make your mixing way easier and faster.

You could also steal your wife's electric whisker blade and attach it to your drill chuck. Even better. Just be sure to clean it really good and put it back when you are done. 😅 or you might get drywall mud in your mashed potatoes next time. 😂

Would you do this to the ceiling as well?

The corner cracks are small and tiny and all of them are horizontal on the left and the right it's a fridge grill on the right so they need a pigeon to connect them both together

I got a four inch crack above the toilet and this seems like a lot of work for that small of an area.

It's always best practice to add the water first with the hot mud as it keeps the powder from coming up in the air as much, but I seen a video years ago that when using 5 minute, add powder first, and add water a little bit at a time, but the guy said don't add more after that because now you have a batch that's activated, trying to add more will screw with your batch because you have already activated mixing with fresh....so I've always mixed powder then water for the 5 minute. Also, I would use a wet sponge and sand and feather your edge to then do texture. Wet sand gets a better edge when feathering for texture than sandpaper. But either way man, good job. I would definitely try wet sanding!

They sell wet sanding sponges with the drywall stuff, there's a coarser grit on one side and a sponge (fine grit) on the other side. anytime I'm doing texture I always wet sand. Plus it keeps down the dust a lot! It's definitely a different technique, but it's super easy! Hope to see a wet sand video brother! 👊

Nah man, you can mix compound, then water, then compound and visa versa. Do it all the time

@@jamesharper8373 i said it's "best practice" if you add water first, then compound, it makes way less dust. Try both ways at the same time, you'll see what I mean. That's not saying that's the rule of the land, I'm just sayin that's a tip to keep dust down. If I'm using anything longer than 5 minute hot mud, I won't add more powder once mixed on the first batch. I've had batches dry super hard, and super fast to the point I can no longer use it, and have to dump it when attempting it, even tried adding more water, but it won't work. With 5 minute, you have about 10 minutes or less depending on how thin or thick you make it. Thicker, less time, thinner a little more time. But once water is introduced, the chemical reaction starts, so I'll use that batch, and make more instead of adding powder to an already mixed batch. But if I'm using 20 min or longer, sure I'll add more powder. I literally do it ever day almost.

Hi thank you! I use a 6.5 gallon pancake air compressor. It’s been a good DIY size.

PUT THAT HOPPER AWAY! Get a toilet bowl brush, swirl it in some texture mud and practice flicking mud for about a minute. Get the rounded “bullet” head brush . More precise, less hassle.

Why do you use mesh tape? Are you aware it's the weakest kind and most liable to cracking? Using hot mud with it gives it better strength, but if you're repairing a spot that's liable to crack I'd recommend using stronger tape.

You can do all that or just caulk it

i think ill just paint my wall black

shouldn’t have used 5 min to start. Use durabond 20 minute instead.

This is an easy fix! Caulk the crack, spray some texture, and paint.

You may need to put some screws in to secure the drywall from moving and separating again
