How to fix a broken black tank valve!

My black tank valve and pull cable was not working on my 2018 Grand Design Imagine 2800BH camper. My cable was bent and that needed to be replaced. My black water was never sealing well leaked every time I opened it! Gross! I watched tons of videos and no one was fixing it like I needed to fix the valve.
I used a LaSalle Bristol 66N4AB36GM waste valve 3” slip and hub to replace!

Nice informative video. If you are worried about the bend in your cable being to tight you can make a new mount for your handle. Using a metal L bracket, drill and a couple of stainless large bolts you can mount the handle anywhere accessible on the frame or metal extension you can easily get to.
Just what i needed to see. Thank you for your video our tank is leaking by so i think our seal is bad.

My question is how hard was all that foam to remove and how did you replace the foam and board?

I knew it was going to be tedious. The black “cardboard cover” had to be removed almost to the axle to gain access. The foam was not hard to remove. I will say 1 year later, I’m happy I did the replacement. No more poop splash.
