Today I'm going to show you how to install your bath to the wall, using the battens we fixed in earlier videos. We use glue these days because it's far stronger than the old angle clips you used to get for fising the bath. I'm then going to show you how we fix the feet down at the right level and how we drill through a floor tile. Perfect for the do it yourself bathroom refurb and the DIY bathroom restoration hero!

Well !!!!! I’m not a plumber OK, I have jus fitted our new bath with this guys instructions etc. It got the wife’s blessing 😅. Thanks for a great video 👍🏻 and it saved me paying for a plumber 👍🏻
I love watching how much satisfaction you get from doing a good job. Shame all the good plumbers and fitters are on KZread instead of doing jobs for me 😂
Excellent video and commentary. This is exactly how l have always install a bath but l also cut a slight bevel on the top of the batten like a French cleat to insure that the bath is pulled in against the wall while the silicone is curing Keep up the good work and stay safe.
So glad you mentioned that filling a bath with water before siliconiong in isnt really a thing anymore if the bath is fitted correctly and framed. The amount of people i get on my videos saying "You havent filled it up before siliconing" ......If its fitted right with a solid bath its not an issue

yeah when you batton the wall, use a quality bath like a Cleargreen bath and make sure its fitted solid, then filling the bath before final seal isnt really required as it not going anywhere! but you also get people who says "the bath come with legs, and metal clips to fix to the wall, why do i need need to batton the wall or make a frame" and just want to fit them as quick as possible, now these are the installs that are best to fill before sealing to let the bath sit down. We install our baths on battons but before tiling (as part for the 1st fix) but our tiler always fills the bath as its just something he has always done.

Thank you. Wow this channel has grown.

Great glue advise. I used to give my self bruised ribs trying to screw up through my supporting wood into to what wood strengtheners came fitted to the bath lips
Hahahah love the song at the end! Thanks for all the great videos and advice.
Good Sunday morning to you sir and your family
Awesome video man!! I’ve just come out my time at college as a pipefitter but love learning more bout the trades, just wondering when you lifted the bath into place would a suction cup benefit?L if you get me? Love the video and tips you give 🙏🙌🏻
I noticed you have not used a upstand seal like a classiseal (oviously because you tiled first before fitting the bath), but what are your thoughts on these kind of seals?
Great video it's amazing to see how others do things, I'm always worried about leaks after and always say classic seal and tanking kit, but this is very good way to do it if the customer won't pay for them. Thanks James great video as usual, also the wife is so patient, I'd only get 2 days to do that work 🤣🤣 and that's sfter being at work that Fridays 😆😆🔧🔧

Great video 👍🏻 One question - my bath feet/cradle broke removing it and the new (double ended) bath doesn't have a cradle / feet - are universal ones ok?
Thanks. I couldn't actually find the link to the specific glue to use, and it was not in the 35 amazon items on the link. I'm doing this job tomorrow, so what glue would you suggest that I can collect from toolstation, screwfix, wickes please?
The larger leg supports that hold the bath up, have you got a link for them ?
Need to see how to do all you doing but if need means the shower pipe
Was it gt1 adhesive you used? Thanks.
What glue are you using or recommend
Great video yet again like all the others. Would you recommend putting timber across the floor under legs if going onto floorboards though to spread the load. Looking good by the way ( the bathroom i meant lol )
Hello... I'm still trying to find the sink fix product and I'm not seeing it anywhere. I live in the US and this is a great product. I'm hoping that i can obtain it here in the US. I live in CT and would you know where it can be found please? Thank you so much.

Hi mate, great vids. Are those wooden supports just attached to plasterboard? And that's strong enough to support the weight?

Watch the previous videos - they're not attached to plasterboard.
A good sealant gun which is excellent for working in tight areas. it isn’t as powerful as normal sealant guns which can affect the flow whilst applying. Not the end of the world but can be a pain if sealing, caulking a large area as it takes longer.
Anyone can tell me where I can buy a decent bath? That bath looks solid, is that acrylic or steel or diamond? Good video, uaed to be in Hungary we used breeze block frame around a bath and expanding foam under to insulate the thing never move again.. But now I struggle to find a good bath in uK for my own house.. 👍
Do you always need a wooden frame around the outside?
Following you religiously….. has given me the confidence to do an ensuite! (With some help) HOLD TIGHTTTTTT
A whole part missing regarding the wood on the wall is that part of the installation? Or not needed?
marcrist pg850 for drilling porcelain tiles. well worth the money, have drilled so many other tile types you wouldnt dream of with it. if the tile is concealed, dont be afraid of a good sds bit on the drill.
You should have said " if you don't know what the 'C' bomb is ask your parents 😂😂👍👍
I just wondered do you get problems when the ground/floor is not level. Under my bath it is just ground. How can stability be assured such the bath does not drop cracking sealant and allowing water to get through?
How do you cut an acrylic tub to shower?
Great video, what size timber would you use to glue the bath to also what silicone/glue used many thanks.
Surely you have a set of wax filled drill bits for tile holes?
Where can you buy the extra support legs?
Pulling it off 😉

How would you seal a bath to a fully tiled wall? Do I have to cut out the tiles where the bath edge will go or can the bath go up to the tiles directly?
@MrManningata
2 жыл бұрын
Traditionally you would have the bath on the wall first and then tiles down to the level of the bath. If the tiles go behind the bath, it might not seal correctly.

@@_Miner I reckon if you seal between the bath and the tiled wall, and then fix the bath against the wall, and then add more sealant at the seam - should be OK. I'm not a bathroom fitter though.
@MohammedAli-1
2 жыл бұрын
I'm no bathroom fitter, but I do a lot of DIY. I definitely would not cut the tiles out. I'd still mark where to put the batten, and make sure it is level. Then I'd do exactly what had been done in the video, silicone the batten etc, then the side of the bath. That will deffo be watertight. Make sure you use an anti mould bathroom sealant so it doesn't become mucky. Also, just keep an eye on the silicone visually over time. Also, you could put a pvc bead between the tile and the bath to add an extra layer of protection. You have nothing to worry about honestly.

If you fit a bath to a wall that's already been tiled, you can guarantee it will leak in the future

@@plumberparts but the screwed fixings don't just rely on the surface bond of the wall. It'd be advised to use both, things like skimmed walls can easily separate from the substrate far before the construction adhesive would fail.

screw the bath legs? nah man just screw the two accessible corners of the bath to the wall. Glue the feet down so they don't wiggle. Screwing them down doesn't do much to stabilize the bath as they do have a lot of wiggle side to side.
