Very nice setup and informative video (thank you)... but doesn't drilling holes in the bulkhead defeat the purpose of having it?... or does the cable gland self-seal, even under the pressure of a full compartment (cockpit or hatch)?

bvfd598, I purchased two walls from a kayak store. they are just oval foam blocks glued into the hull.

Does the battery pack get too hot inside the Pelican case?

No fuse? Might be a good idea, especially of the pump shorts out.

We do not run a fuse, however you can. Over 200 units have been fitted to kayaks and we have not had a problem. We believe it would create another fail point. Worst case scenario - the wire burns out.

Why not! it good fun, Our local club actual requires participants to have a hands free Bilge systems (level 3), and they really come in to their own in heavy surf launch and surf zones

Where can anyone buy the parts; bilge, water hose, tubing ,various fittings and sizes and the Magnetx Sikaflex ???? Most videos like this leave a full list of parts and where to find them. Why can't you do this and not leave everyone in the dark !!!!!! Ji

Having a potentially life saving component crimped and not soldered - yea that's a big no.

@@mikkelkirketerp4884 Not really, a properly crimped cable is often better than soldering, especially in applications like this. Because solder is stiff and brittle the connection point is prone to failure if the wire bends

I have tested one of these pumps for the last month, 8 hours a day on a solar panel, it leaked in less than a month. the seals for the power cables and the seal for the impeller drive shaft are woefully inadequate for salt conditions. not worth buying. look for a brushless option with no direct drive.
