Just followed the instructions in this video and successfully fitting my rail to our T4 van. I did it on my own. The only difference I made 2 x 4mm threaded pins which I inserted in the predrilled holes this allowed me to put the rail on with adhesive and slide into place for final fixing. I removed the pins and inserted the screws all done thanks for the video.

Nice clear explanation. Thanks. Re ; sealant finishing. You can work without masking tape. If you manage to get the right amount under the part to be fitted then a fairly neat bead will show around the edges after its clamped down. To get that super neat it's then just a matter of a little saliva on the end of a fingertip run over the sealant and it magically smoothes out into a neat bead. The saliva prevents the sealant sticking to your skin. Its necessary to keep re-wetting the finger too. This technique is often used in fitting bathrooms. Often a bead will look like a run of weld on 1st application but a wet finger turns it into a smooth continuous joint. You can use this with a gloved finger but the glove is prone to movement which can spoil the 'run.' Another way without tape is to wipe of excess sealant with a decent quality baby wipe immediately after clamping. (Literally within seconds so it has no time to start curing. ) I don't know why cheapo baby wipes don't work well but Pampers type do work well. You'll go through quite a few wipes as each one gets contaminated with sealant quickly and you start re-applying it if you don't change the wipe after a couple of sweeps. Hope this helps someone. I had mine fitted using the roof bar fittings. Tucked the flat part of the rail under the roof bar.

Took my t5 to rising campers had a famous fitted leaked everywhere

Prob worth mentioning that these rails come in different lengths for LWB and SWB

man I love your stuff, but do you have a video, on how to cut and measure the rounded corners inside the fan for head cupboards or anything you need to have flush against the top wall of the van?

im might be wrong but im sure it also comes with black screws, use the silver ones to fit as you had then replace one by one with the black screws

Frog, Duck, Crocodile, Pike tape. All the same stuff just like Tiger seal PU sealant white label goods rebranded.

I understand the DVLA are now insisting on an awning as a prerequisite for registration?

Where are you getting those prices? The same ones are £75 on fleebay?!?!

@@CombeValleyCampers how do the screws stay in? Is there bolts on the other side? The reason I ask is I am having an awning fitted but the van already has insulation on the ceiling. Would this have to come off?

@@gosulivan The screws are self tapping screws and hold into the metal a short distance. Your headliner will not be compromised if the kit is fitted correctly. Regards Leigh

Pointless really, the screws are self tapping screws which would pull the paint off anyway. The sealant not only seals the hole but protects the metal.

That rails to low for the average drive away awening they need to be as high as poss
