How to Fit a Vertical Radiator

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

If you have purchased a vertical radiator, then find out how to safely and efficiently swap a normal
horizontal radiator for a vertical one in the simplest way possible, thanks to this handy info-video
from Trade Radiators. Vertical radiators are a great way to heat your home as not only are they
extremely heat efficient, but they are versatile when it comes to wall space too.
When changing a standard radiator for a vertical radiator, the first thing to do is ensure that the
radiator system is completely drained. In order to do this, locate the drain-off which will be on the
lowest point of the radiator and attach hosepipe tubing to it, and drain the excess water. A wise tip
is to put a towel under the drain-off when you are doing this as they do tend to leak.
A new radiator from Trade Radiators, whether it is vertical or not, will usually be accompanied by a
small fixing kit that provides the correct plugs and screws for your new radiator. Before you even
remove the old radiator, wind in the bungs to the new radiator before measuring it. Then remove
the old radiator and precisely mark out where the radiator brackets should go with the aid of a
measuring tape and a spirit level. When doing all this, don’t forget to decide which side that you
want the air vent on to make it as easily accessible as possible.
When screwing in your accompanying radiator brackets, use the correctly sized drill bit to make your
hole, and then tap in the plugs. Using the screws provided in your fixing kit, attach the brackets
securely to the wall. And don’t forget to measure their distance from each other as well as using a
spirit level! Vertical radiators may look less clunky than more conventional radiators, but they are
heavy, so make sure that you enlist help when hanging yours.
The final thing to do is to work out which sides the inflow and return on your radiator are on -
mixing this up would mean that your radiator would not be fully heated. At Trade Radiators, we’ve
made this easy for you by denoting the inflow with a small red sticker. Once you’ve located these,
just hook your vertical radiator back up to the system and enjoy the efficient heat that it produces.

I was thinking this was a well made video and very helpful until the ending. It is a shame they did not show how to connect the pipes to the radiators.
