How to fit 1.9" tires on 2.2" wheels - Axial SCORE Trophy Truck EP6

Спорт

Finding wheels and tires for the Axial Yeti SCORE Trophy Truck is pretty tricky. The stock tire is not a standard ShortCourse tire, although the wheel is being a 2.2" on the outer wall and a 3.0" on the inner wall. So, I turned to custom rigging a set of wheels and tires, and after trial and error came up with this GREAT set! Vanquish Products, Crawler Innovations and PitBull Tires had the right sizes and with some crafty Xacto skills, I was able to adapt two different sized wheels/tires that fit perfect under the fenders of the SCORE TT.
***Please be advised that I have modified Axles, so this may not fit your stock SCORE TT.

    They look great. I really like the wheels. I use Pitbull tires and CI foams they are fantastic. My Pitbull tires preform better the more I use them. They have held up great for me. I have wanted to do a 1.9 to 2.2 stretch but have not done it yet. I will be when I get my SCX10 Dodge Ram build done. Great job and thank you for the video.

    Thank you for the video. I got motivated and bought myself 2.2" rims and 1.9" tires to try this. Different tires, rims, and foam. I successfully got it installed, beads sit in perfect. But the wheel wiggles laterally too freely, it doesn't stay under the rim, any lateral force will either shift the tire from the rim far left or far right when facing the tire's tread pattern. I am not sure if its cause the rubber compound is too soft, my foam is too soft, or a combination of the two.

    Hi rich ! I just do the same thing as on your vid (it was tricky) but i have a problem : they are totally unbalanced. I used ebay tires and foam, they are very grippy and they don't balloon but maybe they are not balanced. Do you think it comes from my assembling ? from the foam or the tire ? Oh and i also used a narrow ring (like the vanquish you didn't used). If i buy some quality stuff next time, i want to make sure it will works Thanks you

    Please ,what & how do you determine/measure if wheel is 1.9 vs 2.2.I can tell my tires are "bigger" than the stock Honcho (orig spare) but when you measure the rim they are very similar. I want to get new 2.2 bead locks but I want to make sure I buy the right size. Thanks

  • @TheRCNetwork

    @TheRCNetwork

    8 жыл бұрын

    1.9 of 2.2 is the diameter of the wheel only. Not every 1.9 or 2.2 tire is the same height. You're Honcho is optimized for 1.9" wheels and 1.9" sized tires. I have put 2.2" wheels on a Honcho before, but very small height 2.2" tires

  • @JDHitchman
    @JDHitchman7 жыл бұрын

    Richard, A piece of advice if you do this wheel/tire combo again. Spray the bead area of the tire with an aerosol dry silicon spray lubricant before trying to insert the wheels. The silicon allows the mounting to proceed much easier and then dries up. Also I found it easier to insert the rear portion of the wheel first. Finally, use the CI CWR-3014 Deuces Wild foam in place of the CWR-3005 used in the video. The 3014 is a 2.2 foam which eliminates the need to cut the ID while being the same OD as the 3005.

    😂 have to laugh. I bought some beadlock rims for my Trophy Score from boom racing or GPM (can't remember). Stupid me not realising that the front was 2.2 & the rear 3.0 on the tyres. I bought anodised orange to match my theme, waited for them to come in and the rest of my hop ups and! You only get the 2.2 front, with a notched inner for the rear half of the rim. Now I could not find anything to join the rear and the front, full stop, yet alone going from 2.2 to 3.0. I sat on it for days, do I send the beadlocks back and just use the original rims, try and find something beadlock that is 2.2-3.0 and wait another couple of weeks? So much like you did I cut! the original rims 2.2 fake beadlock from the rim, then slipped in the alloy front half, fits perfect. So I have a fake beadlock front glued into the original orange kit rim and the tyre glued like a standard mount. Haven't tried my concoction to see if it will hold up but it looks good! And might just work. Garszy

    I'm sad, 2.2 inch wheels don't clear the knuckles on the Baja Rey. Meaning, I'm stuck with crappy short course plastic wheels that literally ONLY come in black which kinda pisses me off.

    I like this idea but I am concerned that for a crawler this would be detrimental, maybe playing with the foam would be the key to getting some grip back ? ! hmmmnn

    This was for a "fast" rc - the Axial Yeti SCORE Truck. You can simply replace with dual stay foams and you're good for crawling

    @@TheRCNetwork tips appreciated, my crawler wheels are 1.9ers and every time I come across a wheel I really like it always happens to be a 2.2 so I'll probably end up stretching.
