@@jakeaddams1210 just caught a couple of those 17" whiting (and 3-4 14"-15" whiting as well) last weekend..... with no size limit on em, I keep em all so long as I can get a decent filet off of em (usually 11-12" is as small as i'll keep to eat); smaller can be saved for cut bait or to fish whole..... nice video, glad you had fun!

It's good that you admitted misidentifying the Redfish. No worries. Important thing it that you were out doing what many of us wish we were. Texas law says that there is no limit to Whiting (size or quantity). Whiting are good table fare and fun to catch, especially for the kids. Thanks.

Awesome video. Your spot on , it doesn't matter how expensive your rigs are. 32 yrs ago I started of with Shakespeare çombos, occasionally I still use them. Main thing is having family and fun. Nothing else matters.

Great advice for anyone on the beach!

I like cutting those whiting up and tossing them back out on the big rig with strong hooks. caught a few sharks recently that way

Suck into that PVC when putting it into the ground to create suction under it, causes the PVC to stick better and 9/10 will NEVER come out no matter the fish.

great video.....i am headed down to corpus in a couple of weeks..... surf fishing can be on fire if conditions are not to rough....whiting will not be safe the next time you go... they had some size to them...

Now that I know what a whiting is….none are safe!

If you use that pvc rod holder like a straw when you are putting it in the sand, it goes in so easy. It's kinda weird, but it works great. Black belt tip.

Bro, learn how to tie a double drop rig. #2 circle hooks, get some fish bites. Your catch rate will increase dramatically. Great video.

I tried that 1 year, got rolled over and washed back to shore, lost my gear.....stuck to the shore ever since.

My man, I’d make some ceviche with those small guys. 10 minutes in lime juice and some cold Mexico beer and that’s what you call lunch on the surf side beach. Mexico style son😊

What size hooks? I use 6/0-10/0 circle hooks for catfish will those wor or do I need smaller

When you are casting into the ocean, there are biiiggggg fish waiting to bite. The bigger the hooks and bigger the baits, the bigger the fish you can pull in. You will be surprised how big the fish are at any distance to the shore and depth off the beach. The little channels between the sandbars are the highways!

Sadly, I didn't actually look up any fish identifier websites until I left the beach that day! Lesson learned.

Your second fish a Whiting would have made great cut bait and also would have given you a better chance to catch a Red Drum. You will do better if you lose all that metal and tie the same set up without the need for metal.

All you have to do is look at pictures of a redfish you see how much wider that they are then Whiting. Also look at the pictures of Redfish look at the black spot on the tail. That's how you can tell it's a redfish.

If you want expert advice there are many channnels to watch. I am here to encourage anyone to just get out on the beach.

The second Whiting that you caught is not under limit. There is no limit. If I was you I would make another video retracting all that and putting in what it's supposed to be. Just leaving of like that people like me we're going to be correcting you and I don't think you want a bunch of people correcting you. Your best bet is to take it off redo the video by putting in their the right type of fish know what kind they are tentative real size that subject what's the limit and what's not. Whiting is no limit. Why do people who don't have knowledge official fishing try to pretend that they do? I'll never understand that.

That's three why didn't you let go which is 85% better then squid to use for bait. That's where you going to catch a big fish on this The Whiting not a little pea sized quit. Big Fish want to meal by big people don't love a big steak on their plate not popcorn on their plate. I don't even know if I can finish watching this because of the ignorance of not knowing the fish

You know when you're doing a video for people you should know your fish. Yes you could eat the catfish out there but not that one that was called a hard head. No nothing really eats them except for a really big huge fish you need a boat for. Gafftop or sail top catfish you can eat there good eating. And that one that you caught a red fish is not a redfish. that was a Whiting.. red fish have spots on their tail. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 spots. They just buried you're not looking too intelligent out there buy not knowing your fish. And there's no legal limit on Whiting. And Whiting would have made great fishing bait.
