I am really enjoying the lure reviews and tips, they have been helpful. Most of my surf fishing experience has been with bait or screaming metals and Ballistic Missiles as fast as I could reel to catch bluefish on Martha’s Vineyard. Now I am trying to learn the subtler side of saltwater angling and your explanations and anecdotes are excellent. Thank you!

To get the best cast and action in hraby surf what is the best line leader setup you use

Do you ever pause the bait last second when a bass is tailing it on top? I find it works occasionally with docs but im yet to get a fish to commit to a metal lip doing it

And what are weight's of these as danny seem to be 1.5 oz to 4😊

I like your pegboard lure display.. that's a great idea. Only problem for Me is my garage pegboard has tools and other junk attached to it..

Hi Finn, thanks for this video clip. I am sure you are so excited since the fishing season is coming very soon. I am planning to get down to the bottom of MA next week. Anyhow, what lure of Poombah metal lip or Danny one do you MOST recommend? (In other words, if you can only bring one plug at night, which one are you gonna bring out? I was able to contact Poombah plug so I can buy any plug from him. So I would really appreciate if you may recommend a metal lip with a specific information including COLOR, SIZE, FLOATING/SINKING STYLE so that I may order them soon (The lure what you are most using at night and most productive from your experience). If you don't mind, I want you to recommend three plugs of metal lip/danny one in order. Thank you in advance!!

Do you use ta clips or just tie straight to the plug, I’ve gotten use to usin them jus cause of time but will it kill the action on the plug..

I use TA clips it might kill the action if the plug was small and it was a big clip. Use 75 and 50 pound clips they will cover all the plugs you will use for Striped Bass.

Hey kid, hook up with some old timers and learn. I've been surf fishing for almost fifty years and when I was younger the senior surf rats would always tell me, God gave you two ears and one mouth use them in that order. Metal lips are great plugs to use day or night, but I've caught more and bigger fish on these plugs during the day. Put your time in and you will learn. Time is a teacher .

Will you stop calling all metal lips Danny plugs. I knew Danny and fished both his and Don Musso's metal lips. The only true Danny you have there is the Gibbs , who bought the design from Lupo who bought the design from Danny. Read article from Bassdozer , Surf Plugology and learn the history.
