Hey Leo. Wanted to let you know that my wife and I hooked up on 20+ fish each thanks to this video. I got my minnows and tiny jig heads then re-watched this video last night. Got out to the lake this evening and tore it up. Can't believe how much the fish love this bait. We tried all 3 of the techniques mentioned and caught fish each time. Just so much fun nailing those small fish on ultra light tackle. Thanks for all the tips and tricks man! They are working great on Lake Cumberland, KY.

Funny story, last week I was fishing at the tidal basin at one of my favorite spots for bass and white perch. I found a 1" gulp minnow. A few days later, I watched your video and realized that I found it in the same spot where you were fishing a 1"gulp minnow, and on the same day that you were fishing the tidal basin. I went out and loaded up on gulp minnows after that. Thanks Leo

I hook these on a regular hook and cast them out and leave them sit and for some reason I have great luck. I think I told you or another Bigtime fishing youtuber that I've had luck doing that. Caught a massive 11 inch gill with the 2-1/2 inch minnow. But I believe I already told you also. The gulp is GREAT stuff. You're the man Leo. Funny, this is also my favorite bait for multi species fishing. I also use the fish fry. Both of those are my go to. Which reminds me, I'm running low. Sadly I broke my ultralight rod the other day :/ now I'm using a light action ugly stick which, I don't like as much. I think il pick up the rod you featured here. I broke my reel too. They both got ran over (my stupidity). I've been running mono but I'm going to buy some fluorocarbon I and try that too.I'm still amazed I have so much luck without a jig head. Keep in mind, I'm not fishing in a stocked pond, but rather a pressured lake. I made 3 (real bait) guys convert to gulp. Love ultra lights!

I would love to see more videos of fishing in a river, a medium size river. Because theres no creek nearby where I live, only the main big river, and sometimes I dont know how to approach fish in that scenario. Creeks are more noob friendly I suppose ;) Thanks for your awesome content. Greetings from Chile.

I use the gulp minnow in the spring when the crappie spawn and I don't use any weight. What I do is stick a small hook through the head of the gulp and throw it out and it slowly suspends and I'll jerk it twice and then let it sink back down. Killer for crappie and perch

  • @jamesritter5078

Sean - No weight at all? Not even one of those tiny "B" ones? I ask because my Crappie fishing is at a local (good-sized) farm pond, and I need to get to the depth where the Crappies are. To date, I've been using a 1/64 oz jig, tipped with a maggot or piece of crawler, with a float/bobber 2-3 feet up. I catch Crappies with that rig, but your post is making me re-think my method. I may have to try your set-up this Spring. Let me know if you have any other tips, and thank you for the above post!

I do same thing but use a splitshot or two and my already used (beat up by walleye/sauger) 3" gulp minnows on a gold "J" crappie hook. Pretty much only catch bigger crappie using 3" though and I miss a lot of small fish. For bluegill, I cut the old 3" minnow in half(maybe less) and use fluke end of gulp minnow under a bobber on a #10 hook or a 1/64oz jighead. I keep 2 mason jars with gulp juice, 1 with brand new minnows and doubletail grub minnows and the other with used ones. The gulp pint jars suck and leak.

Thanks for the Video, I watched it the other day and decided to try the Gulp Minnow. I put one on a Trout Magnet jig hook on 4lb line on an ultra light rod. I went to a lake to try and catch yellow perch and I ended up catching a 28.5" 7lb 2oz Northern Pike. It was my first ever Pike and took me 20 minutes to Land it. Thanks again for the recommendation!

The one is called Martins lake and its pretty open with a fountain in the middle, he second pond is right around the block and it has a variety of vegetation and hiding spots. Check them out some time. The bridge from philly drops right into Gloucester City hard to miss.

I bought the minnows from Field & Stream today because of this video. I usually use live minnows with Dutys Minnow Rigs - I recommend buying some. Anyway, I hit the creek tonight in Central, PA (which still needs a dry day as the water was swift) with a 2.5" minnow and 1/32 jig head which is the smallest I could find. I had a couple trout hit but no hook ups. I switched to the 1" and I was working another trout but the chubs kept hammering the minnow. I went to another hole and I switched back to the 2.5". Again I got a nice hit but I must have been slow at setting the hook. The minnow rigs I use have treble hooks at the rear of the minnow and I land almost every trout. My buddy joined me and we went to a huge boyscout lake. I was hoping I didn't land a 14" largemouth on my trout rod but I wanted to test the minnow. No bass wanted to play tonight but I caught some of the biggest sunfish in my life and a 11" yellow perch which I rarely fish for so I was excited. So, the trout hit the 1" and 2.5", Sunfish loved the 2.5" and so did the Perch. While I didn't catch what I went for I agree these minnows are amazing and extremely attractive to a variety of fish. I still prefer live minnows but I have absolutely no complaints about the gulps. I will keep them in my car to use at lunch time or on the way home when I don't have minnows. They do kind of last longer than live minnows but I still used 4 tonight. 2 got shredded by fish I landed, 1 was pulled off by a trout and 1 must have got hung up on a rock and tore. I recommend getting both 1" and 2.5". The big jar for the 2.5" leaks so be careful. Dump all minnows in the big jar and use the little jar from the 1" minnows to carry a few of each size minnow with some scented juice in the bottle and you'll be good to go. I'm going to put the Gulps on a minnow rig next time and I bet I land those trout who were only interested in hitting the tail of the minnow.

Hey EPF! I love your videos your videos are what got me into fishing! Well, I want to fish when I have enough money for a rod and reel. Speaking of rod and reels what would you recommend for Midwest fishing? I was thinking a bait caster but I like the spin casters a lot because they're easy and I know you like them too. Anyways thanks again for your videos! New species and tight lines! 🎣

Where can you get a package like that? I always buy those same baits but they come in a plastic bag pack and then the zip seal thing that's on there breaks and my baits get all dried out like within a week :(

You can get it at any major tackle stores, Roman Garza. Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Field & Stream -- they all should carry those. Of course you can get them online as well. :) Tight lines and thanks for watching!

What do you do to keep it from leaking? I put my bottle in a plastic bag and when I went fishing I could see a little had leaked into the bag.

Keep the lid free from dirt, make sure it's screwed down tight and not cross-threaded. I also leave most of the foam safety seal thing in place, I peel it back just far enough to get a pair of forceps/tweezers in there to grab the baits. Keeping it in a bag is a good extra level of protection. The little jars aren't too bad, the 11oz Gulp! tubs are a disaster waiting to happen lol

  • @ScuffedEngineer

Matt Riddell Thanks. I guess I need to tighten the lid more. I kept the stuff in the top and even the sealing paper around the rim.

the gulp minnow reminds me of plastic baits called "finness" that i still use for fluke and weakfish but lil longer size. but they have no scent just the action that you gave it .
