The L trimmer is for adjusting 33⅓ RPM and the H trimmer is for 45 RPM. And then there's a separate trimmer on the circuit board next to the motor, for adjusting 78 RPM. Ideally you should measure the speed while it is actually playing a record, because then you will include the weight of the record itself and the stylus playing the groove, which slows it down slightly compared to the platter spinning with nothing on it.

There's actually only 1 foam pad at the base of the motor on my suitcase turntable, and it's not marked with anything. It's a Digitnow 3 speed USB suitcase player with radio and bluetooth. 33rpm is just a little too fast, so I'me wondering if there is something to turn inside the foam pad because it's not marked with L or H. I guess it can't hurt to have a go and find out, there must be something in there that turns to slow the platter down a little.

Returning mine to the store tomorrow because we shouldn't have to take apart the mechanics and fiddle with the speed. Ugh. I called the manufacturer and got the run around.

Very nice and simple-to-follow video. I thought I was never going to enjoy my vinyl records anymore with my turntable at the speed it had. Now that's fixed and now I am enjoying listening to my favorite music at "normal" speed. Thumbs up!
Thank you so much!!! This has been driving me nuts since December! I fiddled with mine for a bit, doing what you suggested, and it’s perfect! I even matched the song up to the digital version and verified that the speed was super accurate! You saved me $200 by not going to buy a different one! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
This helped! My records were playing a half step slower at first but after messing with the motor the records are playing as intended. Thanks!!
Thank you!!! This solved it perfectly. I knew it was a whole step off and couldn’t figure out why. You’re a life saver!
Huge thanks, you absolute legend! Spent ages trying to work it out and you solved it for me.
This worked perfectly for our Jorlai vinyl player. We were able to fix the problem in less than 10 minutes. Thank you so much!
thank you so much! I was really struggling trying to find anything online and this helped me so much. All the best wished to you!!
You sir are a boss and the reason why I love the internet so much. Just got a Crosley Cruiser for Xmas and immediately noticed an Alvin and the Chipmunks singing style by Prince. Sounds perfect now! Did exactly what you did, 1 quarter clockwise on the L.
I wanted to thank you so so much for this information! I have tried everything under the sun to get my suitcase record player to not sound slow and you truly helped me! Thank you so much! ❤
Thanks for helping me adjust the speed on my $12.00 Crosley that was donated to Goodwill. Most likely the slow down playing 33-1/3 LP was the reason it was thrown out. Work great and now I got one of those cassette adapter that allow me to play my iPod through the headphone out. Listening to Oldie now that I too am a Oldie.
Thank you so much!!! My Victrola briefcase record player was also spinning at 37 rpm. This video helped me to slow it down to the correct speed! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you so much for this advice. The 78 was running slow and I managed to fix the speed using the trimmer on the circuit board. great KZread video - saved me a lot of expense.
I got a victrola that's spinning too slow, renewed the belt, but couldn't figure out how to adjust the speed when that didn't help. You have saved me so much frustration. Thank you!
just used this method to fix my victrola and it WORKED! you are a lifesaver
Very helpful! I was unsure what to do as I replaced the belt just a few months ago. Some sewing machine oil and adjustment of the motor did the trick for my Crosley Nomad. Thank you.
I can happily report that this also worked on my son’s portable Victrola player too! Thank you so much!
Thank you! I purchased a Victrola suitcase model for my daughter and it was a bit slow (thanks for the post it test tip too). After a few very minor adjustments, the sound is great!!
Finding this video is a miracle :) Mine was 37 RPM too. Thanks a lot mate.
Wow, Royce, you are a man of many talents, from diecasts to doing things on real cars, replacing a washing machine’s glass top to adjusting the speed on this suitcase record player!!

IT TOTALLY WORKED! I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO THANK YOU!!!!!!!! The only thing is, i had to play a record and listen until it hits the Original key from the songs, now i can FINALLY hear my Vinyls at the right key after A YEAR listening at the wrong way! Thank you so much!!!!! It really worked!!! By the way, my turntable is a RAVEO Volare! It works for RAVEO turntables too!

How did you prop it open I’m having a hard time doing it without ripping the cardboard under the black layer
Thank you! I inherited my fathers massive record collection but my one player was returning the arm to soon on 78's so I was trying to get this other one to work. It would play them so slow, it sounded like sultry stuff and you couldn't tell who was singing. After new belt and many videos looking for my turn table (which there are none of), this one (even thought not the same) pointed me in the right direction. Without it I would have never found those screws. They were hidden under a little felt covered tunnel. Who knew?! I could only turn it so far but now I can tell it is Bing Crosby or any of the other artists I should know at first voice. Great Video.
Thank you so much for showing us how to adjust the speed!
Very helpful! Thank you. Worked for the crosley player.
thank you so much for this, i got a similar turntable for my birthday but listening to my favourite albums is considerably less fun when they sound all wrong

@@katietymochenko I just did this on my Victrola, and it worked. It took about an hour of adjusting back and forth to get it just right! There is a felt layer over the screws that you have to just push through with a small screw driver, and then kind of wing it.

This is happening with my player as well. Does turning the L counter clockwise speed it up a little bit?
hello ! my portable player was at a speed of 49 rotations per minut on the 33 RPM !! i've tried everything but it was not the same brand. the motor was really similar but with only one hole. I've tested 20 times to put my screwdriver in to turn the screw but it wasn't working. So I dismouted it lol and ... no screw inside :'( . And after a few minuts of sadness I found on the green card where cables are connected three indications (33,45,78) with a very little screw on each of these. You just have to rotate the problematic one and tadam ! works perfect. Sorry I am not english native speaker but I hope this message could help a soul. see ya
Are there ways to upgrade these or would it be more worth it to invest in higher-quality turntable for better quality sound?
This worked for me, thanks! It took me a little while to get the blade to catch something in the foam part, but it finally did and now sounds 100x’s better. Big ups!

i’ve found that often times the cause for this issue is when the record player is left on overnight or extended periods of time. so keep that in mind

Would this work for other turntable brands that aren't in case format? Say a 1byone turntable?

Mine suddenly started running really fast for some reason. But I’ve tried this and I can’t turn it clockwise any further and it’s still way too fast. Anyone know what else I can do?
Did you know there are apps measuring RPM? You just put your phone on the thing start it and that's it. What I wanted to ask, this video was embedded into an article about VARYING speed. Mine does between 33.8 and 34.6 or sg like that in every round. How do I fix it, any idea? It's a new turntable.
