Hi Jonathan, very informative for someone as myself just starting out. I am right handed, but I shoot a rifle left handed. I can't close my left eye. Is it possible to train myself to shoot a bow well with a cross sight picture? Any suggestions on how to choose the right bow? Thank you..

I'm right eye dominant, but have a bad left shoulder. Bracing on a right bow can be painful, but pulling back with the left hand feels fine...

One option would be to use an eye patch to then be able to shoot left hand with the right eye dominance. Another option would be to use the bow string to blur your vision of your dominate eye.

Hey Jonathan, great vid as usual. My club does the ED test by bringing the triangle to the face and checking the eye it arrives at. Your "close one eye" seems to make more sense. What do you think?

That requires "moving parts," and I personally see room for error with that. Meaning, if you "want" it to go to a certain eye (say you just want to confirm you should be shooting right handed) it can be easier to do that. Which is why I like this method better myself. Though, yes, that is another way of doing it!

I am right-handed, and right-eye dominant, but when I turn my head to aim (60-70 degrees?) my brain switches to my left eye. What's up with this?

Sounds like something (bow string perhaps) is blocking your view of your dominate eye and the left is taking over the view.

Possibly eye dominance is not permanent but can change over time? If after shooting for some time you find you are or have become cross dominant, instead of changing to an opposite hand bow, a better and cheaper solution might be to restrict vision from your dominant eye, by squinting, so it does not interfere with proper aiming?

Yes, eye dominance can change. A cheaper option would squinting, or wearing an eye patch, to force the weak eye to take over. Though I would say matching your draw hand to your dominate eye would still be the better option for performance overall.

I'm cross dominant, left eye, right hand. Problem is my left shoulder has had a pretty significant injury in the past and drawing back the bow is much harder than just stabilising

It is possible to switch hands. You can use a patch over your eye, or use the string to block the vision of the dominate eye so your other eye takes over. Bow sights with closing an eye are another option to try as well.

It appears that I am left handed but right eye dominate :O OMG, so I should use a right handed bow? this is going to take some getting used to :s

Not an absolute requirement, but it would be a big benefit to your accuracy starting out. I recommend starting super light weight on the draw weight to retrain your muscles though. Work your way up to heavier weights.
