Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video our Beautiful and talented Tech Jo explains how to find the Top Dead Center ( TDC )in Compression Stroke and set the correct Ignition Timing when the Distributor is Removed from the Engine or the Spark Plug wires have been unplugged without marking their original location.
The video also explains how to set the correct Firing Order and how to find out which is the Number One cylinder on an Engine.
These steps are also useful when Installing a Brand New Distributor on a Crate Engine and you need to locate TDC to set the correct Firing Order.

A mechanic friend of mine knows a guy that had long hair and got himself scalped. Ripped the hair and skin right off his head. This was after months of people telling him to cut or keep his hair inside a hat or something. But no, he just had to let it hang out. Learned a very difficult and painful lesson that way.

Get #1 on TDC on compression stroke on 0. Wherever the rotor is pointing, that is #1. Run the wires to that terminal following the firing order, rotation of the rotor, and cylinder arrangement. The side with the damper mark pointing to that spark plug is #1. If their aren't any marks, pull the valve cover and check for valves at the front that both are closed. That'll be #1.

What a nice vehicle to make that video with. Everything is uncluttered and clean and easy to reach and see. On a newer full size truck you would be lucky to find the harmonic balancer let alone a timing mark and the distributor is waaaay back there in a dirty little cave. Yep...nice little vehicle...no fan shroud the size of a garbage can on that one LOL.

I have a Chevy S-10 Blazer (1987) with a V-6 engine in it and have to get the timing corrected on it as my friend who put in the short block engine for me didn't know how to set the timing on that engine. I have just let the vehicle sit since he did that work and not he is no longer with us I want to get the vehicle started again. I will look at the manual I have for that SUV and see how I can get that vehicle running and take it to the local dealership so they can adjusting the timing for me. Thanks for sharing this information on finding the TDC on the V-8 engine you worked on.

Adjust the timing yourself it's a simple procedure; if you don't have a timing light you can adjust it by ear. Drive it down the road at various speeds and pull over and make fine adjustments by turning the distributer counter c.w. to advance c.w. to retard. The timing for a s.b. chevy is 8 degrees BTDC for an automatic and 5 degrees for a standard.
