You're the only one on the Planet who shows how to find tdc and install the spark plug wires by finding plug no 1 on the dist cap. Thank you.
I removed the distributor on my z28 without putting the engine on TDC. I'm glad I found this video
She just now got my 1988 Monte Carlo running today after sitting for 9 years. THANK YOU!!

I subscribed to this channel solely because of the presenters professionalism.
I have to admit that you have a very good execution of your demonstration about this, you didn’t diddledaddle or lose the direction of your topic like you see happening in a lot of videos. And for that thank you sweetheart, and i enjoyed seeing a beautiful woman interested in mechanical troubleshooting and dimensions of vehicles. Hope you continue to with posting videos
I was battling getting the timing right and your flip did the trick. Absolutely awesome! Thanks a lot.
Knew a guy, I say knew and not know because he lost his scalp and his life from having his hair getting caught in a serpentine belt. Glad you pointed this out in your video, great job thanks for the help.

A mechanic friend of mine knows a guy that had long hair and got himself scalped. Ripped the hair and skin right off his head. This was after months of people telling him to cut or keep his hair inside a hat or something. But no, he just had to let it hang out. Learned a very difficult and painful lesson that way.
Beautiful.. you made it so simple. I broke my distributer because it was seized in the block but I managed to remove it and install a new one. You confirmed my planning for timing the engine in my rear engine 460 ford motorhome. Thank you.
That is nice to know and wonder if the newer vehicles are working the same way. I appreciate you all putting this video online for all who will be working on their vehicles.
Very informative. Thank you for the video. This certainly helped me understand TDC as it relates to ignition timing and wire placement. Great job teaching so I can understand.
THANK YOU, you are the FIRST person to tell me what TDC has to do with timing.

Pretty understandable video.. with a awesome lady. Thank you for info
Great teaching, well done .... Thanks. ..
Very helpful, thank you very much
Get #1 on TDC on compression stroke on 0. Wherever the rotor is pointing, that is #1. Run the wires to that terminal following the firing order, rotation of the rotor, and cylinder arrangement. The side with the damper mark pointing to that spark plug is #1. If their aren't any marks, pull the valve cover and check for valves at the front that both are closed. That'll be #1.
thank you for your time love the car and and you
Thank you for the beautiful, informative , and clear vid3eo

Awesome video! Thank you so much!
Thanks for posting
A very clear and precise explanation to a longtime question of mine. Duh Zach, of course it follows the firing order! :/
What a nice vehicle to make that video with. Everything is uncluttered and clean and easy to reach and see. On a newer full size truck you would be lucky to find the harmonic balancer let alone a timing mark and the distributor is waaaay back there in a dirty little cave. Yep...nice little vehicle...no fan shroud the size of a garbage can on that one LOL.
Thanks for your big help 👍👍 keep going
Thanks beautiful!...... now I got it! I changed the spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, and didn't find out how to plug them back.
Awesome video!!
Thanks helped a lot ;)
very great information thnx
Great take mam Nice and simple
Thank you for video.
GOOD TUTORIAL
Great video, I had forgotten how to find TDC, its been 30 years since ive had to do it. But Im thinking my 90 chevy truck is off a wire or two.
Thank You So Much !!!!!!!! 🙏🏼

great video honestly.. one of the best.. specially you are well prepared..
Thank you
Great video thank you :)
New subscriber old time mechanic. Great to see points rotor and distributer cap and also a young lady that enjoys working on her own vehicle.. Way to go and I enjoy your channel. Wish I could inspire my own to daughters to work on their own cars because their better halves know nothing and can't be taught. I TRIED!!!!! ❤️
this helped me out a lot, awesome video
I have a Chevy S-10 Blazer (1987) with a V-6 engine in it and have to get the timing corrected on it as my friend who put in the short block engine for me didn't know how to set the timing on that engine. I have just let the vehicle sit since he did that work and not he is no longer with us I want to get the vehicle started again. I will look at the manual I have for that SUV and see how I can get that vehicle running and take it to the local dealership so they can adjusting the timing for me. Thanks for sharing this information on finding the TDC on the V-8 engine you worked on.

Adjust the timing yourself it's a simple procedure; if you don't have a timing light you can adjust it by ear. Drive it down the road at various speeds and pull over and make fine adjustments by turning the distributer counter c.w. to advance c.w. to retard. The timing for a s.b. chevy is 8 degrees BTDC for an automatic and 5 degrees for a standard.
very good job
Good work done well
I got your reply to my tdc question below to my email...i don't understand why its not here...but thax i could not find that answer anywhere... i ended up calling my life long mechanic friend and he said the same as you and what i thought...so i know i have my distributor in correctly now....it was way off...its amazing the motor ran at all...thax

great video. Love to see a woman who knows how to work on her own car.
Already knew how to do this. Just showed up for the thumbnail.
THANX
Love the detailed explanations. Just ONE thing you didnt cover...how do i Align the mark on the harmonic balancer with the 0° on the timing cover? with out turning motor by hand and screwing anything up?I'm a new(ish) self taught mechanic..
good video
what a clean ENGINE...
Hi , excellent .
Well Done....
thank u
Understand me when I say I watched this video 1 thousand time lol and even watched when I worked on my car lol dammit it fuckn started thank you thank you
As soon as she put her hair in a ponytail i got excited
Thanks🤘
What does compression feel like would it be blowing or sucking air?
The engine is system color coded, way cool.
So once placed at TDC on my 4.1 HT tbi. Do I still have to worry about 0 degrees on my harmonic balancer?
I love 😊❤
I have a 1994 Mercury Ford villegar van sideways motor 2 cam on the top how do I line them up with the crankshaft pullet
SO I HAVE A 350 5.7L LT1 MOTOR IN MY '93 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM, SO IS IT SAFE TO DO THE SAME PERFORMANCE YOU DID?
It nice 2 see girls not afraid 2 get dirty , You go girl!
If the crankshaft and camshaft timing marks are aligned with what they should be aligned with (i.e., the other marks), that means necessarilly that it is in the TDC point?
Question i am installing new timing chain...when crankshaft and camshaft gear marks are lined up( crank mark 12 oclock, cam mark at 6 oclock) ... Is that also top dead center on compression stroke? i need to install my distributor correctly on my chevy 4.3..just want to make sure... Also if distributor is put in wrong can motor still run?? i ask because i may be off by one gear or 180 degrees.... engine ran horrible thanks
So the rotor should be pointing at your number 1 spark plug correct ?
This is a gorgeous mechanic and she seems to know what she's doing if all of you women out there that are complaining about some of these comments it's funny if we say a girl is ugly you think we're mean but if we say a girl is good looking or sexy you think that makes us a perv and don't act like if there is some muscle-bound mechanic with his shirt off that you wouldn't be thinking the same thing get over yourself some women are just beautiful and guys like them to know
muy linda mujer soy ecuatoriano aprecio mucho lo que haces x que se.....hermossssaaa
How to used dail gauge please apload vidio
nice, i wired my 72 Chevrolet imp 2 door hardtop, with no 1 in back of engine , same firing order only that i started from number 8 cylinder not number 1 in the front, number 8 in the back, next to the passengers side, put number 8 piston up on top dead center, puled my distributed out placed it back in with my rioter facing number 8 on my cap, bolted it down slapped on the wires, now that had power, a 350 4bm 4barl
But what if your TDC, 0° mark and timing pointer aren't lined up? What then? This is what I was looking for help with. Not that I know mine aren't, but I want to verify all three are aligned. How to verify TDC?
How do I reset cam and crank after broken timing chain in sbc
good job my sister may god bless u >> but i need to ask u about the starter remote u pluged one cable to th postive battery side but coudnt understand the other cable where did u plug ??? and another question is th remote starter suitable for modern car i mean mpi system with ecu ??? thanks

So no matter what stroke of the piston coming up as long as air comes out of the spark plug hole it's guaranteed TDC????
There's a good one right there heh!
