Should make the hole much larger. Would make it soooo much easier to put wet sand in.
For anyone dealing with wet sand. Here's an additional step to make your sand flow more smoothly. On a mostly dry and sunny day, spread out the sand on a tarp, thin layers dry faster. Use a broom to push the dry sand into a large pile, scoop dry sand and then pour into the base through your funnel.
Thank you for this video . we needed the advice . God Bless Lifetime product Company
Used your tutorial for filling my cantilever parasol base ... used funnel job done thanks
I had to fill my base with water, as the 30mm hole is far too small. After filling with water, I could not tilt it onto the wheels. I mean it wasn't budging, and I weigh over 200 pounds. I had to siphon off nearly half the water before I could move the thing. Had I filled it with sand, I would have been rightly stuck. Model number 90001.
Mine has two holes that came with caps that are much smaller than the one you’re working with on this video. Made a trip to the store tonight to grab a funnel and it is too big for the hole. Must be 1” round. This has gotten irritating at this point. Can’t do water in Illinois. What little tiny funnel am I to use. Very poor design. Not user friendly.
What bag number can the cap be in?
👏
how do you remove the water. its hard to move it.
Where’s the cap at for the hole I don’t see it anywhere
I got one of those small bags of powder that expand when water is added and it becomes like sand. The single use becomes 400 pounds, is this viable for the hoop system base?

I did that. It lasted about a couple of years and after that, it acted like there was no weight. The goal would then routinely fall over during above average winds.
I’m confused how filling the base with water whilst it was laying flat from the start, would have yielded any less of a result 😅

If you have a hole in it then water leaks out. Sometimes Sand is needed.
What about in colder regions. I want to use water but obviously freezing and expansion would be an issue. What do I add and how much? Would that react with the recommended bleach?

Our bases are designed to expand and contract depending the climate so you should not expect the water to leak out of the base or the base breaking with water inside. The manual suggest you out 1 tablespoon of bleach when adding in the water.
Can you use gravel instead of sand?

Only water and sand is recommended to fill the base.
How many sand bags did y’all need ?

Generally it takes one bag, however, it varies in the system you’ve purchased. You can find the requirements in your instruction manual on the last pages of assembly.
How much sand do I need for the intermediate goal's base?

It’s all dependent on the base you have. Do you know your model number? You can also refer to your instruction manual, all the details will be there. Usually on the last page.
Where the heck did you get the dry play sand? I can’t find anything but wet play sand that packs and is terrible for trying to pour. I know you have to have engineers that can design something more practical.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Bought play sand, then found out it was wet. I couldn't get the first pour through the funnel! I returned all 6 bags. Did you have any luck finding the correct sand? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! TY!
Since we live in the year 2023 I would think there's a better design for these bases. Maybe ask an AI!
It would make too much sense for Lifetime to place the hole all the way at the top that way you can just stand the funnel on top or how about a bigger whole to pour sand??? Just stupid Lifetime!!
It took me 5 months to put together the basketball system

Almost cost me a divorce putting one of those goals together
Why not rather than filling the base with sand just put sand bags on top so when you need to offload the weight to move the hoop you don't have to pour out all the sand from the base? How about cinder blocks why doesn't lifetime recommend those instead of water or sand?
@LifetimeProductsAssembly
3 жыл бұрын
This is not recommended because it causes damage to the base and does not create the full support for the system. If you chose to put sandbags or cinder blocks on top of the base, you will void your warranty.

That would look ghetto
How many lbs of sand

The amount varies between 100-416 lbs of sand depending on the model. What is the model number of your basketball hoop?

This is useless. How about a hole big enough to actually put sand into the base. If you did it this way it’d take about 73 hours
You have to move the base when pouring the sand so it is distributed throughout and then continue to pour more sand. What a stupid design.
