I became a certified personal trainer for this very reason. Lifting, eating healthy and taking care of my body has been my key to happiness. I feel so empowered and so strong inside and out. I've struggled for so long with mental health but the gym keeps me grounded. I've always said, working out is what makes me feel so good and how I look is just a byproduct but it is very hard to use that as a "selling point" people don't see it that way. I hope to instill the same passion I have for fitness into everyone but especially the ones who struggle with mental health, anxiety and body image issues. I want other to love themselves for showing up and taking care of themselves. Everyone deserves that. I get so emotional thinking about it. It has been hard but I am determined to be part of the movement that shifts fitness from how you look to how you feel!

I’m a mental health therapist, and one of the most important things I ever recommend and try to encourage out of my patients (no matter what they are struggling with), is a healthy level of exercise. The amount of endorphins release from just exercising alone with a consistent schedule, is amazing.

Definitely agree, a key positive "side effect" that often is forgotten but so immediately remembered once starting exercise again after a break ☀️👌

The timing of the topics MP covers gives me goosebumps. I have custody of my step daughter for the summer. She is having a hard time with mental health and body image issues. Hearing you talk about health and how it improves every aspect of life is exactly what I’ve been telling her. She hears me but not sure if she totally buys in to it. I’m sending her this episode to listen to. Hoping she buys in after hearing you guys explain this. I just started her on maps anabolic. I’m excited to see what I can do for her this summer. I will be implementing everything I’ve learned from you guys.

See the main reason why you guys are one of the top fitness professionals in the industry is because you explain so many areas of your life fitness relates to, then back it up with science based studies then put it into practical application. You can really see your experience even by listening to only 5 minutes of an episode.

Sports are very important. They teach the kids responsibility beyond themselves only. When they play on a team they learn that it is not only about them. They might be the best player and they still won't get anywhere unless they can play well with others. It gives a self esteem that they can not get anywhere else. It teaches discipline and commitment.

I just got my teenage sons in the gym with me and the advice given about not holding them to the same standards I hold myself to is probably the best information I’ve gotten today. I need to remember that we all have different goals and different paces. I will be asking them a lot more questions regarding their fitness goals and hopefully they will feel more in control and that can lead to their independence on their journey. Thanks again guys

Gotta say, I think you guys gave the last dude kind of a lame answer. He's looking for novel ways to challenge himself and grow; there's a myriad of ways to achieve that. OCRs are a great start (you guys even wrote a program for this!), rock climbing, almost any sport. It doesn't always need to be about lifting weights. I felt that was disappointingly myopic. Intellectually, too. The dude can take on drawing, painting, learning a new language, writing a book, learning how to survive in nature, programming, etc. I hope the dude finds something good and fulfilling to do.
