How to feed my Copperbanded Butterfly Fish (Chelmon rostratus).

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

How does this critter eat? Like a horse. My present Copperband is hand feeding.

Good Idea.. I may try that. Another method I read somewhere is get a small piece of PVC with caps on both ends. Drill holes in it. Have cap loose so you can put food inside. Then only the CBB can get its beak in to pick out food.

For processed frozen food, yes. For wild food that's fresh or frozen, never.

I’m thinking of making a gelatin mix and attaching to to live rock

joseph jacks I wouldn’t use any type of binder. Since these fish can be tricky to get to eat, IME, you want to focus any providing the highest quality food you can. A binder just decreases the amount of food present and would probably make it taste less appealing to the fish. The key is finding food they like.

I would try fresh salt water clams roughly chopped. I smeared the clam on a fist sized rock and attached with rubber bands. Fresh (or frozen) foods are going to be the best.Lastly I would search Reef Central for similar questions. Best of luck!

Fernando Calcografica The ingredient for feeding the Copperband was solely a small eating clam, locally I was using Little Neck clam. The key was for the clam to be very fresh, the fresher the better. Also when shucking the clam, try to retain the juices. Feed the clam meat wet with it's own juice. Save the remained in a small container and freeze. I added a bit of Best of Luck!
