This video is exactly what I was looking for. A client needed the book I designed to be ready for ebook. I knew InDesign had a feature to export to epub, I just never did it before and certainly wouldn't have guessed the correct settings in the process. I used kindle previewer to check my work before sending. Perfect. Thank you!
Thanks Bethany! I literally just finished making the MOBI file in kids book creator but now I see that EPUB is the way to go now. Very easy steps, thanks.
Thank you so much!
Hi, thanks for nice and easy explain video. Is this fix layout epub allow to audience change font size?
Thank you Bethany. My ebook shows not an original size. Why?
Hi Bethany, have you had experience with error messages related to Table of Contents when uploading ePUB files created from inDesign? I've done exactly the same as what you're showing in this video, left the tOC option to none, and I'm getting told that all major platforms now require TOCs, even if they are not shown in the file. By this I assume they mean it must exist as coding but the reader isn't aware that it exists (since picture books hardly need a TOC). It's driving me crazy trying to find a good explanation of how to set this up!
I just stumbled into owning adobe creative cloud, so I have indesign now too!!! I have a book already to go, but not a child's book. I assume that doesn't matter right? Point is ID works for formating ebooks?? I know there is a kindle editor but not sure how that works compared too this

If you are designing for only kindle, Kindle Create is a great program to make sure you are well-formatted for it. If you are publishing "wide" through multiple platforms, this can work as well. Depending on special elements you have you may need to "anchor" them which is something I plan on covering in the near future!
Thanks for your video! I’m a bit confused about the section whereby you chose an image (your cover I presume?) when it asks to rasterise your first page. What would happen if you didn’t? I thought you had to upload your cover separately on kdp? And last question.. do you need to worry about selecting anything to account for the bleed for an ebook? Thanks!

You do have to upload your cover separately to KDP. This puts it in the metadata and will not count as a cover being on it. Also, bleeds are only for print books so you don't have to worry about any settings there.

Thank you, that’s super helpful ☺️
I'm having an issue where text from certain tables are squished together. The book is a cookbook and I've found no way to fix this through export settings which sucks, but I guess I'll just have to hope the reader is okay with it.

Sometimes tables in particular will get squished/export strangely. The best advice I have is to make those tables JPEGs or PNGs and then re-export. It is a pain, but some reflowable and fixed formats will shift around tables and there isn't a great work around if this is happening to you. You can also try locking the table before exporting but sometimes this will have the same issue.
I'm lil bit confused. So KDP just needs an epub/PDF or needs another extension or app?

An epub will work, though they also have other apps that offer formatting specifically for Kindle.
What kind of Mic is that? Looking to start audio

This video description has a link to my mic and covers how I create audiobooks: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJ2f2spxlbeTdJM.html
I have added some text along paths and they appear weird in the epub file. Is there any solution for this? Thanks

did you resole it ? how

@@KIRAN_DENJI I don't know if this will resolve it, but I would turn that entire page with the text on a path to an image (jpeg).
