How to enter Hartlepool Marina

In this weeks how to guide we show how to gain access to Hartlepool Marina.
Access is +-3 hours of high tide.
WPT 54deg 40min.86N 01deg09min.90W
Marina CH80 VHF
Tees Port Control CH14VHF
This is a lovely marina, and very easy to enter, just watch for the shallows in the outer harbour.
We have been informed by a berth holder that the lock is available 24 hrs, however when we visited we had to wait outside the outer harbour for an hour to allow sufficient water. On one of our visits a boat had tried to gain access without permission, and had run aground. If you can't gain access, you can call up Hartlepool harbour and raft up with permission from the harbour master until there is sufficient water to gain access to the marina. We did witness a large sand bar that dries out close to the outer harbours moles.

'Middleton Harbour. Back in 50's we used to beach the fishing boats up in the Narrow top end on the beach. Large winch and rollers, cabins. Scrape. recaulk if needed. Retar. and float on next tide. I still remember the taste of the old watchmans Pipe Backy. Yuk. and chewed the chips of tar when they hammered it smaller to melt down and brush on hulls with those round, Bristle tar brushes. Some good. Carefree memories from them days. '40/'50's. Then I left there in '58 and made a life elsewhere Last 51yrs in Australia. Shorts.T Shirt, and sandals mainly. Winter (12 to 24 deg) around 7 weeks long . Rest of yr. 24 to 35ish deg,. Heaven. Sooner you leave there. SOONER you'll get a life. Kids. Grandkids, and 3 Great Grandkids. ALL working, Mainly in the mines. Most own several houses.
