I'm brand new to laser engraving and just picked up a 40w CNC Fiber Laser myself. Using factory settings I can engrave any of those black laser cards for sale on Amazon fine but on any other metals - nearly nothing! What could I be doing wrong? I've looked for a depth setting in EzCad which it came with and didn't find anything, I tried all different random MhZ and power settings and still no change. I can see a very slight marking if I set it to loop 10x for instance but not much beyond that yet the manufacturer shows it cutting deep into firearm slides and such. Of course out of China I'm getting no support so just wondered if any of you experienced engravers might know what I'm doing wrong?

You have to play around with the Hatch setting with the hZ % There are videos on KZread to help better understand. Also if you have a machine that you can manually adjust the focus, you can try moving that up or down. I laser etch carbide and HSS and they both etch differently on the same focus.

I'm in a pet tagging business and I want to level up the quality of engraving. So I'm planning to buy a 30W fiber laser. I have no problem with a thick tags but some tags like anodized aluminum with a thick of 1.13mm, engraving front and back is not quite thick. Do you think the laser will go through it? THANKS!

Yes, the laser will go through it. The 30W fiber laser can cut through anodized aluminum with a thick of 1.13mm. The laser can also engrave on anodized aluminum, stainless steel, copper, silver, all metal materials and some non-metal materials. If possible, we can make some samples for you. After that, we will send you some sample videos and photos.

What is the difference between the marking area sizes? 70mm x 70mm vs 200mm x 200mm for example both with 30W. Will the 70mm x 70mm have better detail? Smaller line marking and spot size?

Hello, yes with the 70mm x 70mm have better detail, i.e. Smaller line marking and spot size. You can let one machine has two lenses, 70 x 70mm lens and 200 x 200mm lens.

Does the type and color of the metal have an effect on the color of the image after drilling?

Hello, this is fiber laser, which can't engrave photo on acrylic. We have CO2 laser machines to engrave photo on clear acylic. Since, CO2 laser mainly works with non-metal materials, fiber laser mainly works with metal materials.
