I switched from Ubuntu to Mint and then to Pop OS. I dont like snap, thats the reason way I left Ubuntu.

Wayland is quite polished with gnome. One gripe though is you cannot alt+F2 and restart Gnome you have to log out.

I think that whatever session you are in will be the default at each login.

This either no longer works or theres something wrong on my system. I got everything exactly as the video and the cogwheel at login screen does not give me "Pop on Wayland" only "PopOs" and "Classic Gnome"

Still works. Either you have an Nvidia dGPU and/or a kernel version other than what I have running. Join my Pop group and post in there. > facebook.com/groups/poposlinux

@@how-to-linux. Hey, fixed it. I had to enable modeset for nvidia on grub, apt purge all nvidia packages and reinstall system76-driver-nvidia. Everything went black, let it work its magic for 3 minutes or so and manually powered down my computer. When coming back I was on Wayland

This doesn't work if you have an nVidia card. Apparently, with the nVidia image, Wayland is not allowed per nVidia's request due to issues with Wayland and nVidia GPUs. When I tried it, it was still using Gnome Xorg. Researching on the internet, I found that per nVidia's request, they said to not use Wayland with their driver. :(

Oh really? Damn, I was about to use this method on my laptop which has an NVIDIA GPU. It had worked on my desktop which has an AMD GPU.

After you open the file in Nano > if there is a # mark in front of that line > remove it and then set the value to true > then save file ctrl + o, then, ctrl + x to close the file. then do a reboot or just logout > on login screen look for the cog wheel in the lower right and choose Wayland. verify the Wayland session with > inxi -G > in terminal.

CTRL O and CTRL X does nothing on my end. Followed every step as you went several times and those two commands do not work. Will not save the file. Furthermore, what is waylan? Failed to load binder driver modprobe: FATAL: Module binder_linux not found in directory /lib/modules/5.19.16-76051916-generic Binder node "binder" for waydroid not found Cog wheel in lower left hand corner? Nope. It screwed up my dual monitor setup and i Had to go in and reconfigure everything. This whole thing has me pulling my hair out. And yes i have fully updated my PoP OS 22.04 on a NEW system.

Are you using nano to edit the file? make sure the letters are in small case and not caps > ctrl o and ctrl x Wayland is meant as a more secure and performant display server over X11. Once you edit the file and restart the GDM, there should be a cog wheel in the lower right where you can choose Pop on Wayland. As for Waydroid, my video on it shows how to install Waydroid and inject the needed and missing kernel modules into the running kernel. You need to be in a Wayland session for Waydroid and you also should have a AARCH_64 CPU for the Android .apks
