As a lifetime knife user, I’ve always owned folding knives. In May 2024, I got my first fixed blade knife, the CRKT Minimalist cleaver. My last folding knife was the Gerber Flatiron (D2). So the CRKT was and is the perfect companion for EDC. As an aside, I’ve had accidents with every knife I’ve ever owned, until I got my two cleaver style knives for EDC. Because of the cleaver blade, I’ve become a better knife user and have yet to accidentally cut myself with my two cleaver blades. They don’t have a point for poking or stabbing, but the front corners are a good substitute.
@tkellknives is my go to for fixed blades. His innovations on blades, handle ergonomics and sheath design make his blades the best for EDC carry. OWB/IWB, horizontal/vertical, pocket and/or boot.

Plus, he's also a US Marine.🇺🇸
Been using fixed blade full tang knives for EDC for years. I've had one too many folders fail and my fingers pay the price. My normal EDC these years is a Holtzman Guerilla Survival. Used a Sharpfinger for years before that. Every so often I'll change out for another of my knives, like SRT, but I always go back to my Holtzman. It can take a beating, holds an edge, has a nice weight to it, and the handle is lovely.
Izula, Joker Erizo, Condor Primitive Bushdagger 🤘
As far as I concern You have two edc knives. Two real two beautiful two great knives and both are from Josh of MKC.
Abkt has one of. The best budget fix blade knives out there.
Love the ulti clips, been using em for 3 years now!!
Great overview.
I have a rotation of fixed blades I’ve been carrying for almost 2 years. Esee 4, armiger, tops cut 4.0, spartan alala all carried horizontal at 6 o’clock. The tec lok is all I will use. Tried lots of attachments and they work best for me.
I got the strongarm as well with partial serrations. Great blade and keep it lashed onto my backpack.
ust became aware of MKC within the last few weeks. Have been EDCing fixed blade knives for over a close to 15 years now, mostly Dozier and Crotts knives out of Arkansas though they are becoming a bygone era. Just ordered a Speedboat 2.0 earlier today and ordered a FLATAIL two days ago. Looking forward to this new era of knife making.
I still own every Gerber that I've ever purchased (minus one stolen and one given away) One was a gift from my brother. Heavy usage, mainly camp chores. The serrations are worn down a bit, but it's 15 years now going strong.
I carry horizontally on the front of my belt, sits above my shirt line and often forget it’s there.
Those last three fixed blade knives are real beauties. Normally I carry a cold steel AD10 and a Leatherman Surge if I'm not traveling too far from home. But if I'm going longer distance then I add a Gerber LMFII and a Schrade SCAX5 tactical axe.
just picked up a Kershaw Steppe, feels nice in the hand
For my fixed blade instead of an ulti clip i went with a discreet carry concept clip. They work pretty good. I replaced my hoslter clips with their monoblock clips as well.
My MKC war goat will be here Tuesday… been looking for a knife like this for awhile. Interested to see how I can mount it on my plate carrier. Thanks for these videos! God bless!
TKELL makes the best fixed blade knife in my opinion. His sheaths are the smallest on the market and you can wear it horizontal on your belt. You actually don't even know the knife is on your belt. Plus their knives are all American made.

I would check out the spyderco pocket bowie for edc fixed carry. It is the perfect size. Yes I carry one.
Semperfi bro iam a new subscriber i carry a microtech LUDT as my EDC but i have been think about a fixed blade thanks great review 😊
Nice presentation.
I'm glad someone else admits how damn hard Ulti-Clips are to open. I use them more often than not, but they are rough.

AK1 is my EDC fixie 🔥
Carry a cheap CRKT Obake on my duty belt every day. Suitable for my work purposes and doesn’t stand out on the belt. I have a number of “better” fixed blades like a microtech SBD and SBK but very rarely carry them. The discomfort in how they carry makes me reach for a folder most days.
Boker dvilian is amazing option
I carry the viper handy fixed blade knife. It has a Magnacut blade and a very good leather holster. ( vertical or horizontal). Bought mine from Atlantic knife.
VGKC is my solid to to fixed..
Civivi makes an awesome fixed blade
Feliz citaciones desde Argentina Buenos Aires ciudad de mar del plata 👏👏👍🇦🇷
My go to fixed blades are TKell Nightstalker CG, Bawidamann Huginn and Half Face Blades Humint. All 3 companies are American based. ⚔️

I EDC the MKC Blackfoot in the pocket with their deep pocket clip. My only issues with carrying an MKC in either way is the orientation. For being right handed and having the edge facing the direction I want, the clip is on the wrong side unless you want to mess with the screw holding the sheath together. Horizontal carry, I think most people put their belt on the same way, so a front horizontal carry for a right hander means it should sit where your extra belt goes after the buckle, which makes it impossible to place there. The only way to carry it properly in the front is to reverse your belt direction.
Just got my first fixed blade, custom TPK Midsize Camper w/ Acid Stonewash Nitro-V. It didn't come with a horizontal clip with the kydex sheath so looking to get an aftermarket clip. Any suggestions?
I am sure you know but that clip can be attached to most sheaths for horizontal carry which is much thinner and less bulky than that belt attachment. Thanks for the pry tip.

I’ve fallen down the fixie hole myself. I’m finding it way easier to deploy and use on the go
I recently bought the ESEE Candiru to be my EDC fixed blade….not a fan for it in that capacity. Mainly the handle and it is quite difficult to get out of the sheath. I cannot pop it out with one hand. I’m sure the retention could be played with but obviously don’t want it to easily fall out. I have been trying to find a fixed blade that conceals easily, has a decent blade length, comes out of the sheath easily and don’t break the bank (looking at you MKC).
I edc an Ontario Rat 3 in my work bag. I got it as a food knife so i don't need to use any of my folders to cut food. Its one of the 10 knives i regularly edc 👍 When my mom was still in the hospital we had to use my Spyderco to cut the roasted pork belly for Christmas dinner because they forgot to bring a knife, even a plastic one. I never wanna do that again, its greasy and gross 😂😰
MKC in collaboration with Fieldcraft created the MKC FIELDCRAFT SURVIVAL KNIFE, designed by MKC's founder and Master Bladesmith Josh Smith. My favorite tactical knife with a unique conceal carry sheath that is fast and safe. It is comfortable and effective in any grip. Magnacut steel superb patina and a bulletproof handle. It is an outstanding system. Except for that knife, like you, I carry all of mine with that clip horizontally. The Mini Speedgoat is a nice lighter carry for some. Oh, they have a Generations Plan, they will sharpen fix replace the paracord handles, yes for each generation. Great USA-made knives as they say, "for the working man", better be a hard-working man. But very reasonable for the quality.
Devil Doc 8404 FMF … I EDC MKC SpeedGoat 2.0 on Messenger bag and pocket FieldCraft Survival MKC blade .. so small so simple and easy to use US made with great warrantee
Kinda looking at a D2 steel with a sheep's foot profile with a 3.5 to 4 in blade. Mostly for a working g blade.

Try the ulticlip the correct way. The piece that you flip up isn’t what you use to grab the fabric. The fabric goes between the back piece and the hook looking piece and then you flip over the clamp

I would not like MTN to get military contracts because then the product would never be available for the public because MKC would not be able to keep them in stock. It's already hard to get MTN knives. They sale out immediately on release.
@MarineX
16 күн бұрын
Not necessarily. Gerber, SOG, and T.A.G all have military contracts and we can get those items. If MKC won an award it would change their company forever because those contracts are worth millions. So they would ramp up production
I'm fortunate to live in a jurisdiction where a knife is legally classified as a tool. You can open carry a fixed blade anywhere except the usual schools etc. so I can wear one of my Fallknivens on my belt and go on about my business.
X I love this video! Which of the 3 MKC knives that you showed is your favorite? Super cool that you got the War Goat early 🔪
Interesting that you released this video on 6 July 2024 as I have just starting trying pocket carry of the BIGiDESIGN Lookout fixed blade with magnacut blade and tigerwood scales, made in Tennessee. So far I like it. -6" overall length -2 1/4" Blade Length. The sheath has a pocket clip which I have been trying clipped to a magazine pocket inside a cargo pocket. Easy to deploy from there, but not as fast to return to the sheath, at least not yet for me. I'll probably try other placements, but if I have something clipped towards the outside, I always seem to catch the clip on things.
You could file the back of that gerber strongarm camper to give it a rougher edge

I’ve carried the 2.0 for a year know. I started with the ulticlip but the sheath doesn’t lend itself to that clip. You can only attach to the non blade side which creates an issue with the draw causing ther blade to glide across clothing no matter what placement. The MKC is not a solid deployment blade. Blade stock is way too thin even on the war goat.. overpriced shank at best.
These knife promoters on youtube do such a good job. Because every time I click on the links the knives are sold out.

I'll edc a fixed blade if I'm going to be doing any kind of outdoor activity like hiking. Other than that, my folders usually get the job done, no problem. My current favorite is the Condor Huron. I've had it over 5 years, the 1095 steel has beautiful patina. Easy to sharpen and the spine throws a wicked spark.
Great recommendations! I need a good fixed blade now! 😂
Being a female And having a smaller frame. I definitely prefer smaller Fixies. The less imprint, the better.
Nice X! -Go Army!

Ulticlips are a great idea but poorly executed, I wish there were more good options on the market.

Try discreet carry concepts clips. They make some that work for knife sheaths for both belt and pocket carry and are easier to use than ulticlips.

Yo MarineX, I never enjoyed kydex sheaths. I find them unnecessarily tight or unnecessarily bulky. A leather foldover that holds the blade and wraps around the handle slightly is the best for me. I find crossdraw the most instinctual for deploying(like a samurai). Hogue and Tops make my favorite full size blades, while I enjoy neck knives for style(and feeling like a wild west outlaw)
Personally?...I'm a Microtech man. 😁 That being said, I sure wish MKC wasn't out of stock of basically everything always... Oorah, motivator. First time here. Tossed you a sub. Keep rockin. 0651 09-14, OEF 2011
