When sketching flowers the most important thing I have learned is how each petal goes towards the center of the flower. All petals go to the center
The key for me is PRACTICE. Thank you for a well-taught lesson. I look forward to more.
You are a teaching genius!❤ Thank you for breaking it down so beautifully.
I have been trying to learn how to paint for two years and finally I am making progress after following you more than trying to just learn off of everyone else. I am really thankful for the progress. I am working with your new every day, watercolor course, and your recent lessons on KZread. Thank you so much you are an inspiration!!
Wow it’s like you read my mind! 😂 I seriously just said that I want to focus more on sketching and line drawing flowers so I could make original paintings of my own. This was extremely helpful! ❤
literally have been trying to teach myself this and figure it out on my own for weeks and here comes this video to save the day OMG! SOOOOOO helpful!
Hi I am recently joined to your channel and happy to have a professional teacher.god bless you
Thank you for teaching the very bascs so we can build up our skills. Leaening these steps will allow us to better observe refrences, and more importantly, create our own compositions with our own style.
you always explain things so easily 🥰
This was SUPER helpful! Thanks!
Breaking this down is so helpful. Really looking forward to the next video. Now I will practice, practice, practice.Thank you!
This is so fun! Can't wait for the next video!
I've been watching your videos for some time now, and this one is the **most** helpful to this newbie because you demonstrate how the folded portion of a petal also has direction. It looks so un-natural to this painter when the petals are *always* folded in the same direction. Thanks bushels for teaching this.
This was such a well thought out video. The way you explain as you demonstrate is so helpful. Game chqnging for me, actually. I needed this and look forward to watching the next three videos in this series. Thank you, Jenna!
Fantastic tutorial! Combined with the skills I’ve learned from your book, my flowers are getting better!😊🤞🏼🎨
So helpful! I've been going flower by flower, and this makes so much sense! Thank you!
Hurry, a new video tutorial. 🤠
This was fun. My first u shape was so shaky.😂 But I kept going. You have a very calm and encouraging teaching style. Looking forward to next week❤
This video is so so helpful! Looking forward to next Saturday’s video! Thank you. Helene
Soo helpful! I've seen many of your great videos, this one is my favorite! Thank you !!!
Thanks Friend! Soothing to watch the steps. Your drawings are pretty lovely 🥰
Amazing instructions! I can’t thank you enough for breaking this down.
This was very helpful for me, understanding the shapes and perspectives of these shapes in flowers. Thank you
I love the step by step and practice time. Thank you!
OMG you are so easy to follow... thank you.... you are very very talented.❤
Thank you so much! So helpful and very well demonstrated.
This is amazing!!!
It was difficult to picture what you were doing without seeing the inspiration photo. Not everybody has an image of peonys in their heads. 💖🌞🌵😷

😀 that's a good point. I just googled some images of petals to help me. and actually it turns out there are about a million different kinds of peonies (ok, maybe 100) so the one she did on her book cover is not at all what I picture for a peony. ( I thought it was a carnation!) To be fair , she wasn't drawing an actual flower today, only some generic petals. Which work for all kinds of flowers. But, yeah, I agree that most of us need a lot more practice with real flowers before we can create flowers out of our imagination. for now, there's google, or flower catalogs (like that sell bulbs and stuff--great pictures !)

@@SuzetteSantori1 , what I was thinking was that she could have an inspiration photo laying on the desk next to her sketch pad or a little window in the corner of the video with the inspiration photo... so we could see what she was drawIng. 💖🌞🌵😷

oh I dont think she was using one. She wasn't drawing from a photo @@suzisaintjames
This was really helpful for me. Thank you!
Thank you! Needed that!
Thank you! This is so helpful.
I really like the way you break things down. I totally understand why you use a hard lead pencil to have light lines in your sketches prior to painting. However it would be very helpful if in these videos you could use a darker lead so it shows up better on camera. I had to zoom in close to see what you were drawing because your lead is so light. Thank you for sharing your skills and talent. I really do appreciate all your videos.
using the shape of "c" , "s" and the parentheses!
Awesome
Thanks ❤
I like toproject these utube videos on my television. I could definitely follow what you said, but your sketch lines were so very faint, I couldn't see most of them. It would be very helpful to use a bolder, darker sketch line. Thank you. I really enjoy your videos. 😊
"How to EASILY sketch detailed flower petals." Where have you been all my life? .🙂Especially 1201-1218. Thanks, Jenna
Ive been practicing the petals, you said ther wew 5, but im seeing only 4. It would be helpful to have the petals named. This is what I understand. #1 Horseshoe, #2 Narrow Horseshoe, the shorter, squatty #3 C to S petal, #4 oval (wave top and bottom). What is the 5th. 1-4 all have the left right, top bottom. If you can explain the other petal would be so helpful! Thanks so much! Anyway, I practiced all the petals until I could do them my own way that made sense to me. It was a lot of work, but my oh my, my petals actually look good! Ive never drawn anything in my life. After practicing each petal until i could do it withou thinking (I created a page in my notebook with an acceptable petal reference). Then practiced the inner cone. It was hard, but I got though it.thanks for the inspiration.
I am intrigued by the eraser. What is it?
can you please link all the parts?
Thank you for naming the curves “C,” “S” and “squaty potty,” and “squished”
Petal drawings were impossible see.
