A lot of people are mispronouncing words like "veterinarian" and "respiratory". they drop the "ri" in "veterinarian" and "ra" in "respiratory". it's poor grammar and each letter needs to be said; ve-te-ri-na-rian, res-pi-ra-to-ry, (not vetenarian) or (respitory) as they sound.

English pronunciation/articulation is my area of expertise, so I would have a million recommendations in that area lol... but for grammar, I can only really direct you to resources online rather than from my personal experience. (English grammar in use and English for everyone come to mind). I'm in Canada bordering the United States. The accent used here is the "General North American" accent. Hope that's helpful!
