How to easily drain your fuel tank

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A quick video on the easy way to drain your fuel tank.
I've done this a few times the hard way of using hand pumps, lifting the tank and pouring out. However I've found this very easy way to drain the tank using the in tank pump.

    That's great but quite often tanks are being drained because the fuel pump is no longer functional and the the tank is being emptied to change it (pump) out.

    Good for a top up but it doesn't get the lot out if you are trying to drain your tank

    What if I got a truck? And the tank and the pump are up underneath the bed where I can't get to without removing the tank question markand if i'm going to remove the tank , I might as well just dump it out instead of doing that. Is there an easier way without removing the tank or half to get to that pump

    Is there any danger of the fuel pump overheating especially when you're getting down to the last of the gasoline?

    Yeah, but you have to take your other car apart, remove the upholstery and access your in-tank pump.

    Hello.. is that those two cables black and red are (-) and (+) ,could it be conected to battery? Basically the idea is to activate the fuel pump, but not sending the fuel for engine, but sending the fuel to other tank, is it?

    In this we hooked them up to available - and + so we could turn the pump on and drain it into another car. You could do this with just a battery and hosing going where ever you want to move the fuel - please bare in mind petrol is more volatile and you might need to take more safety measures.

    How to get around the anti siphon ball ?

  • @ijible

    @ijible

    3 жыл бұрын

    The fuel is going from the pump to the other car, not the other way around. So the siphon ball doesn't matter, it will fill the tank like a regular petrol pump.

    Over a year ago I bought gas that’s been sitting in a vehicle and it’s running rough.. but yet I’ve got no warning signs showing on the dash. I’d like to just drain it and put newer gas in at first and if it still does it I can always reuse what was in the tank. Thanks for this!!!

    it would have been a great help if you showed the part where you disconnected the fuel line from the engine and connected it to the hose. It does not help me as is

    Not only simple but also safer to do this way, the only danger is, if you forget to stop the pump when the tank is empty, the pump running dry could be destroyed.

    Can't I just use the original fuel pump wiring to run the pump? I assume it will run constantly in an effort to prime the system and bring up the pressure, or does it automatically shut off?

  • @paulfoley6602

    @paulfoley6602

    I know that some Mazda models don't start the pump until the engine is actually running. On cars that do prime, I think the prime period only lasts for a few seconds after the ignition is turned to the ON position. Pump starts again when engine is started.
