How to Easily Calculate Dilution Ratios for Car Detailing
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I'll be explaining how to calculate different dilution ratios for car detailing/ cleaning chemicals e.g. APC, citrus, rinseless wash, wheel cleaners etc.
Link to the dilution ratio chart on my website: autocarehq.com/dilution-ratios-for-car-detailing-with-charts/
Links to the tools used:
- Measuring jug (1 litre): amzn.to/45EFGe4
- 50 ml measuring cup: www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/carbon-collective-50ml-measuring-cup?variant=40497410801743&ghref=3377%3A53788
- 20 ml syringe: amzn.to/3zrx525
- Cap measurement tool (exact one I use is not available): www.in2detailing.co.uk/products/tolco-pro-blend-proportioner-28-400-orange?variant=32463470329935&ghref=3377%3A53788
Dilution ratio calculation examples:
1. 1:4 dilution ratio
- Add up the total parts of the ratio (1+4=5)
- Work out how much solution you need in total (for this I'll use 500 ml)
- Divide 500 ml by the number of parts (500÷5=100). This means each part is 100 ml.
- Work out the amount of water needed, in this case it's 4 parts (4x100ml=400ml)
- Add the 4 parts of water (400 ml) and 1 part of product (100 ml) to your sprayer
2. 1:25 ratio
- Add up the total parts of the ratio (1+25=26)
- Work out how much solution you need in total (for this I'll use 500 ml)
- Divide 500 ml by the number of parts (500÷26=19). This means each part is 19 ml.
- Work out the amount of water needed, in this case it's 25 parts (25x19ml=481ml)
- Add the 25 parts of water (481 ml) and 1 part of product (19 ml) to your sprayer

Haha no worries thanks for watching!
Thank you for making this very helpful video for all to use. I’ve made a check sheet with the dilution rations for certain products that I use for a quick glance. Once you know how the ratios work, the world is your oyster 😂

Thanks for watching Darren! That’s a great idea too 😊
So glad you done this because I've been doing it wrong 🤦♂️ 1:4 I have been using 25% product to 75% water 😅
Brilliant timing. Thanks
Keeping this in my video library. Thanks.

Cheers Neil, if you head over to that link in the description btw I’ve written a bit on calculating PIR at the end of the article
Clearly explained and saved to my saved list for reference. Nice work Heather, thanks for sharing! 👏

Something off topic but have you thought about doing a (A day in the life) type of video about how when you detail, From the delivery of a car to the end vlog type stuff.

Definitely an idea to consider!
Another reason to add water first is for safety with more aggressive chemicals,. If the water is in first any splashes will be mostly water. If you add chemical first then splash with thr first bit of water you splash almost neat chemical

Very true great point!
First few times I had to dilute stuff it was a nightmare, now I am super organized with a spreadsheet and all the pre-made dilutions for the capacity of each one of my sprayers so I can simply look it up and move on cause I'm lazy 😆

@@autocarehqextra sorry, it’s just you look and sound very much like her, she does KZread motorbike videos. I hope I did not offend you in any way. I really like your videos, very informative and a good watch. I’m on the cusp of buying a pressure washer but just don’t know which model to go for, it’ll be used for domestic car detailing as opposed to commercial, basically my own vehicle. Thanks

@@chrisneville5884 Not at all don't worry! Thanks very much for watching the videos :) I used to have a Karcher K4 prior to getting my Kranzle pressure washer. If you go for a Karcher, consider having a look at the outlet as they have some good deals on refurbished models www.karcheroutlet.co.uk/index.asp
No way this video needs 7 minutes.
