I would love to get some acupuncture treatments but there isn't a decent acupuncturist in the town where I live.

I'm sorry. Maybe there's one in a surrounding area?

An hour away by train. But who is going to recommend the right one? Not the Yellow Pages!

It only hurts when I'm walking. It starts about 15 minutes into the walk. Once I get to the destination, the pain goes away. By the way my weight is normal.

Please mention this to your doctor if you haven't already, because there can be several causes for the pain and they may be able to help. For example, it "could be" arthritis, but it could also be from something like a tight iliotibial (IT) band that could be helped with physical therapy. Good luck!

@@SeniorSafetyAdvice oh I spoke to the doctor long ago, he suggested injections but the problem comes and goes and I'd like to hold off on that as long as possible. He also got me into the physiotherapy clinic, and I can't say it didn't help but it didn't cure. I'm an incurable optimist, and at 82 I still think the problem is going to go away on its own. I exercise regularly - weight training and cardio - and I take a couple of pills if I know I'm going to be walking for over an hour. Oh and to make matters worse I am going to be without a doctor as of next month! He's moving away and there's no replacement.

The orthopedic doctor I saw said it's arthritis and there was nothing to be done. Didn't offer any suggestions and told me not to come back!
