Ive seen mohawks explained to beginners as way to transition to backwards, and was really confused as to how i couldnt do something that looks so simple. Glad to see that it actualy takes while to learn and its not just me being super non flexible ahaha
I LOVE this kind of tutorials. Thanks for the hard work putting this video out
I'm so glad you mentioned it took you 5 months to go in a straight line! I've been wanting to mohawk for ice and inline skating, and each progression video I've seen makes it seem so seamless to move to the next level. Keeping a realistic timeline in mind will help me not get too frustrated (right now it is a STRUGGLE!). Thanks for the tutorial!

So happy to be of help! I'm also not naturally very flexible which may have been a part of the reason it took me that long. Nonetheless, it certainly takes time no matter who it is. Happy skating!
Thanks for posting, I'm slowly working on my hips flexibility for this move, eeeh, will take a while. Great channel, subbed!

You're welcome! Hope it's of help!
I am going to train for this with skates off to start. I start to turn almost immediately when I try it on skates.

That's definitely what happens when starting out. Makes for a great turn technique though!
Hey Cam! Great tutorial, thank you. :) I was wondering wether you put your weight on your toes or heels when you do the mohawk? Does it matter? Cheers!

Hey thank you as well! I just put weight evenly across my foot and that helps me keep the most stable. A fun Russian dance-looking trick is to do the mohawk on heels (heel pop), but it's a bit more challenging

I'm trying doing mohawks but I always keep turning. And I always feel like I am falling on either side when I managed it to be straight Very nice tutorial tho. I'll try to practice it more

Thank you! I had the exact issues when I was learning how to do this as well. It just takes a while to get that hip flexibility. It takes a bit to get the balance as well, but adding some speed as you feel more comfortable with the position should help. Keep at it!
That's an awkward position even when standing with shoes.

It definitely feels awkward for the first while, and gets much easier and comfortable over time
I can spread my legs that much... gonna take a while to learn ...

Once it's dialed in, it's definitely a great trick to help you do other combinations of movements
