How to Drive Stick and Burn Rubber in the Shelby GT500! - Wide Open Throttle Episode 32

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On this episode of Wide Open Throttle, Jessi Lang meets up with the team from Soul Pancake to teach Mark, an automotive novice, the ins and outs of handling the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500. After helping him conquer the Shelby's manual transmission, Jessi schools Mark in the fine art of burnouts and donuts, then spends the rest of the day basically destroying tire treads. Class is in session!
Wide Open Throttle appears every Thursday on the new Motor Trend channel.

***** Most people in the US do know how to drive a manual they just prefer not to. A ton of folks from the baby boomer generation grew up driving manuals. Real issue is traffic primarily in major cities, you have to love driving a manual to drive one now days. Automatics offer more/easier convenience ie: using a phone while driving is much easier with an automatic. Practically everyone uses their phone while driving to text, call, check email, play music, check apps etc. Manufacturers have moved away from manuals, it's hard to find a new Porsche in a manual unless you get a Cayman or GT3. Brands like Infiniti have partnered with Mercedes and have eliminated manual options even though the manual was popular in previous generations.

Thank you for all your help man. I was driving my friend's manual car for the second time yesterday and only stalled once, when I left his house. I figured out where the catch point of the clutch was, and I applied everything I asked when I was driving. it's not really that hard. Again, thank you very much. You made the learning process much quicker.

I learned how to drive it on the weekend so that I could get to work on monday. I think I made the monday morning traffic reports on TV..smile. One thing though...don't drive near a "hill" until you have that clutch down pat..smile.
