Is there a right way to drink your bourbon or whiskey? The short answer is yes.
Subscribe for new videos every Saturday: goo.gl/JCpjAJ
There are four different ways to drink your bourbon, as well as four ways to properly enjoy it.
You can drink whiskey mixed, on the rocks, with a splash of water, or neat. But no matter how you take your drink, there are four steps to enjoying it.
First take a good whiff and enjoy the aroma. Then check out the color and appreciate the age (as well as the money you've just spent on that dram). Then sip and enjoy. Finally, repeat.

First of all, I prefer my bourbon with a cube. But as a bourbon connoisseur we are not snobby and we don’t care how you drink it, just drink it. If you are drinking your favorite bourbon with coke, then it will be the best bourbon and coke you’ve ever had. If you like it with water, then it’s the best bourbon and water you’ve ever had. Bourbon is America’s native spirit so you’re doing your patriotic duty by drinking it!

jim piser There’s no such thing as being patriotic by drinking fucking bourbon. You aren’t cool because you do or don’t drink. You aren’t cool if you do or don’t mix an expensive spirit with coke. Fucking pisses me off you think you’re doing America a favor by destroying your liver. Lmao. Ok.

I toured A. Smith Bowman in Fredericksburg, Va. The production supervisor gave us a personal tour and tasting lesson. The proper way to drink an aged whiskey is to allow it to sit in the glass one minute for every year it was in the barrel. He demonstrated this to us and there really is a difference.

First, I'm glad I stuck around for the Honda Civic bit. Second, I always keep 2 bottles of whiskey at the house. Something cheap for my friends that like to mix it, and a 100 proof Knob Creek, which I explain is for sipping only. Sipping bourbon does not go into a mixed drink. However, I've found that my guests enjoy the most expensive whisk(e)y I can afford.

Now that I'm really interested in bourbons, a few days ago I purchased 4 different beginner brands-Eagle Rare (like), Buffalo Trace (sipping with this video, like), Elijah Craig (not yet), Knob Creek (not yet), had a small bottle of Bulleit (? will revisit). That's a nice sentiment. But it's kind of like , " Everyone who plays gets a trophy." It's nice to say , but dumb in practice. I have to agree with our host here. The distillery did spend hours / days / years perfecting their mash. Getting their Barrels to the perfect char and then aging it 4 - 20 + years for some to thrn pour a soda made of high fructose corn syrup and cancer over top of it. I going to guess that zero master distillers drink bourbon and coke. Just a guess though.

I understand exactly what your point is, but don’t turn your nose up at someone else for enjoying something differently than you. Everyone experiences things differently. The companies have been paid for their time perfecting their whiskey. And we are not “master distillers”. We just want to enjoy a drink.

@KnockaroundGuy 00 i'm not a cheap bastard. I m just not stupuid enough to know the value of things. Some drinks, iphones, cars, diamonds, and so on don't deserve their prices, but they are trendy things that are over-appreciated and so the manufacturers get away with it. You re a snobbish bastard, try living in the real word before selling your kindey to a company just because they asked for it.

Difference is Jack (MOST Jack) is cheap and expected to be mixed because, while it can certainly taste good straight to some, it doesn't have nearly the amount of minute flavor notes as some other, possibly higher priced bourbons, ryes, etc. i.e. don't add coke to red label Whistle Pig (and don't be fooled by the price of blue label, it's worse..), but knock yourself out with standard Jack. Again, no offense to Jack, just different notes and tasting experiences. P.S. at the end of the day still all opi in based, so feel free to tell me to gtfo
