The shadow VP can be anywhere on the ground as long as it's directly under the light source. This lets you do things like having the light in front of the object with the shadows going away from the viewer.

I would like to point out a small flaw in his constructing perspective shadows. It is a common error perpetuated in many perspective tutorials. If the shadow is cast by the sun then the light rays would be parallel due to the sun's great distance. If the light source is an artificial one e.g. a street lamp, then the light rays can be drawn from the light source. A simple explanation is that when you move sideways from an artificial light, the light stays fixed in its position whereas if you try and move sideways from the sun, then sun moves with you. Therefore the sun rays are parallel.

First two are OK, but your 3rd shadow drawing doesn't take into account the back wall of the shape, and your 'sphere' is just a flat disc, like a shield, not a full volume like a ball.

Great video but the music is so depressing! My desire to draw something has vanished! Life has no sense, etc. :D
