    @@showman139 Hey there! Yes it was quite a great find. I am not much into the animation side of things, but if you pause and screenshot some of the video, you can see that there is a progression to how the drawings are made, and you can start with simple round/organic shapes to make certain parts of your character, then connect those shapes and fill them out!

    I don’t understand why you got a 1940s edition of this? You can get a new printing at Blick.

    I have his newest edition of this, which is also linked in the description. But this one is pretty much antique now, so it's cool to have for the novelty.

    There are a ton of similarities, and a lot of the animators I believe worked at multiple studios.

    For meaning to have viewers stop the video and take screen shots there sure wasn't a lot of opportunities without your left hand in the way and/or your right casting a shadow. The later pages shown weren't even all the way in frame. Good first effort i suppose, but i'm still going to have to get a real copy of the book to actually see it. I don't like the "fancy programs"....

    Why do you need gloves?

  • @VincitDesignCo

    @VincitDesignCo

    Great question! You certainly don't have to use gloves, but I want to preserve the pages for as long as possible, and since these pages are very old and brittle, the oils on your fingers can damage the paper further and make them wither faster, so a pair of cotton serving gloves will make sure no oil get's on the paper!

    The Royal Society has taken a different approach to handling archived books. They no longer wear gloves. They found they did more damage to the pages when fumbling with gloves. They no longer wear gloves when handling books and manuscripts.

    This book will show you how to do it. The thumbnail is literally a screenshot from the book, so that there is no wondering about what you are going to see. Sorry if it was unhelpful to you, but Preston Blairs latest edition to this book is available for purchase, and it is absolutely helpful for achieving the style of old Disney animators.
