I'm so jealous of the volume & definition in this picture!
This is beautiful and you're a very talented artist but would be nice if you explained the technique of how you do this and which tools you use for which parts.

Nah (from what I got from the video and trying this out on my own) first make the shape of the hair (kinda like a large U-shape), next add the base color (in this case, black), then give it some definition (add some curls around the shape of the hair that already made), then let it shine (in this case and most, add white), and after that add some more curls by drawing them in a spiral shape. Remember to follow the form of the hair, gravity will pull it down so work from the top of the head to bottom and continue to do that like all other times you would draw and remember where the light is coming from (for example, on if it’s on the left) add brighter highlights on the left and get decreasing dark the more you right
My art teacher recommended this video to our class. I can definitely see why. Great job!

I wanted to learn how to draw a black woman’s curly hair and I must say I did take some screenshots and I think I will manage as I can see the layers you are doing. I’m gonna try in digital so the tools for me don’t make much of a difference. 😅
You're such an enthusiast. Anyways can i do that with graphite?
@ArtistMarieLowe
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Yes graphite will work, only it will lack depth without adding black pastel or pencil.
Will you draw leela james

I have been trying to learn how to draw curly natural hair awhile now but I just can’t make it work any tips on how to define the curls?
@ArtistMarieLowe
6 жыл бұрын
If you use the technique in this video, the curl definition is created by drawing the curl shape in eraser. Basically drawing the highlighted/shine in the curl. Then use pastel to further define the shadows
Curly hair looks the most beautiful in drawings, but my lazy ass hates to do it.
It is so pretty , are u drawing my hair 😋

This is not a tutorial this is a speedpaint type of video. Tutorials are when you explain to the audience how you drew it as you go along and give steps. Just to let you know for next time. Beautiful drawing tho
