How To Draw Concept Art, Character Turnarounds, And Reference Sheets For Manga

Фильм және анимация

I’m sure you’ve seen artists posting turnaround sheets for their original characters. Some may call these kinds of illustrations “character bios,” but in the professional field, they are known as concept art. Concept art is a term used to describe reference sheets that will help you and others experiment with different designs and coloring styles. While tedious, concept art is a very important skill most comic book artists should know about!

It's never bad to research! Even great artists watch other creators to get inspiration and study! Drawing is all muscle memory, like exercising you won't get buff by going to the gym for one day! Thanks for sharing! I definitely relate here. It’s a lot of pressure knowing that this one illustration is what’s going to be used as your official reference. Ah I definitely can relate to that, I'm a novelist/writer ( beginner ) and am working on my 2nd novel for now, it's a mixture of fantasy and isekai with a completely different kind of storyline which is absolutely different from the usual ones, am thinking of making it a webtoon too so that's why I'm learning art from the scratch ( can't hire a artist since I'm poor and don't got an iPad but I'll get by 😭 ) so yeah

Could you make a video specifically on background/prop desgin? Because theres alot of untended ground there I think should talked about more. Plus I think that's the hardest to conceptualize because architecture is legitimately so varied its almost like Human personality and form but more complicated. Itd be really cool to see you talk about it.

That kinda just comes with experience and making changes with parts you aren't satisfied with. That's why you'll see the term "Early Concept Art" in animation and comics because the designs might change a lot during the early stages

Thank you for taking the time to share! I think having good art can go a long way! The best way I can recommend to help with ideas is to watch or read a LOT. The next time you're viewing something you enjoy, jot down on your phone notepad what exactly you liked about it. Honestly, no idea is 100% original anymore, all creators just mix and match pieces they like from other stories and put their own flavor on it. If you like drawing a specific thing more than others, that might help you settle on a genre. Nobody likes working on a project they personally wouldn't watch/read themselves, so take your time discovering what YOU like. I hope that made sense LOL. Best of luck!!
